You know this site is seen by people dealing with schizophrenia all over the world, right? Why would anyone feel like this is a safe space based on this kind of content?
I’m happy not to avoid but to speak up if I feel compelled to. In my real life I’m a lot more cynical but this stuff on mental health forums confounds me.

I have no problem with this content. Here are my problems:

The morons who want to talk about their religion when I had a religion prey on me while I was floridly ill and they made me worse.

The morons who love to post triggering news headlines when MANY of the people here rely heavily on stress management techniques to manage positive symptoms and really don’t need to know about the lastest school shootings THIS WEEK.

The one particular moron who likes to joke about people needing to learn to handle their booze around people who are in recovery and who should have been perma banned years ago since he adds nothing to the site for anyone (I hear he’s one of pixel’s two regrets).

The morons who have to talk about aliens or share the latest “proof” of aliens on Youtube when there are people here who really struggle with these delusions 24/7.
As for the fapping and peen jokes, bring them. They are a welcome distraction. Heck, I have an online radio station full of that stuff. I’m also relatively certain I own the only online station with butt plug humour in my station idents.

If your referring to this site with your comments, you do realise some people that post here are delusional and ill? And will not always make social sense?
I’m guilty of this, I have posted about shooting that have to due with Schizophrenia, I had no idea that this hurt people dealing with ongoing positive symptoms, more of the community need to speak up about these news topics there not comfortable with, not just one person in the end of a joke tread.
In general people are ok with a clear TW in the topic title so we know whether we should click through or not. But also, besides this one specific example, most of what @shutterbug mentioned is already against the rules.
Yup. And keep in mind that I’ve been around here since 1999. Sometimes you just have to keep the people who can’t be helped from hurting others.
In the case of upsetting news items it would be nice if ALL SPECIFICS could be left out of the title. I don’t need to know how many people were killed, how they were killed, or if they were kids. Just put: “TW: Possibly upsetting news item.” People can decide whether to read it or not without knowing specifics.
