Foreign country to me

After all this time I have people taking advantage of my symptoms IRL. This is new for me. I thought there was some kind of honor code where you don’t do that. I sure don’t do it.

And I lived in mental health housing for years off and on and I respected peoples privacy and let my housemates and neighbors alone (except when I was a practicing addict for a few years, and even then I only really bugged one guy who I knew for three years).

But now in my new apartment building my fellow mentally ill tenants figure that since its mental health housing they can freely do what they want so I have one guy on a power trip even in my own home, I am stressed right now and have a hard time keeping my cool and so the young women upstairs were laughing manically three times. And my downstairs lady neighbors (who I like) will kind of encroach on my space.

As if life ain’t tough enough, now I have this to deal with.

I’m sorry that your housemates and neighbors are stressing you out.

You don’t have to deal with it. After you calm down, you need to address these issues. You need to stand up for yourself. Assertive, not aggressive. The longer you keep stuffing your anger the worse it will be for you.

Tell these people what you’ve told us. It’s not a bad thing thing to stand up for your rights while respecting the other person’s rights. It’s a good thing. You’ll feel so much better when you do.
