Was anyone a forum member in the 90s?
I think I remember someone saying it’s been around since 1999 or around there.
What was the old forum like?
Were there a lot of members?
I got on the old forum in 2009 and it was different.
The moderation was not as strict as now but that was a bad thing. I remember forum members arguing and fighting.
Example: two guys got into it, cussing and fighting and threatening each other. It escalated so bad that one guy gave his full name and his full address on the forum and dared the other guy to come to his house so they could “settle it”. There were trolls: I’m sure at least a few members hear remember William and his butt cheeks. He openly trolled for years.
The worst thing about the old forum was that near the end it was crashing frequently. It would crash for two weeks at a time and it got so it was crashing every three weeks, sometimes even more frequently.
You’re right I think the forum was around in 1999. Maybe @anon82948922 will remember. There’s several members still on from the old forum from around 2009. I think @firemonkey was there, maybe @daydreamer. @Jayster, @jukebox, a few others.

I was on the old forum starting at around 2006
Like @77nick77 mentioned there was a lot of fighting at times and there were the crashes.
But overall it was a positive experience.
Today’s current forum has a lot of improvements but there was a lot of support on the old forum as well

I was at alt.support.schizophrenia from towards the end of 1996. Even before it became troll infested it was not the healthiest place to participate in. I started posting on schizophrenia.com in 1998. For many years I posted far more in the news section than anywhere else. Nowadays I’ve cut back on posting in the news section. Primarily because I’ve increased my participation elsewhere. Secondarily because @everhopeful is now far quicker at posting news articles than I am.
Being on Blue sky and X quite a lot, I tend to post articles there instead. There are several mental health professionals there that I interact with.

I wasn’t on it yet. But in regards to calling people trolls, that’s a touchy subject for me because a lot of people here think I’m a troll but I’m not, and no one will tell me what I’m doing that makes them think that. It actually hurts my feelings

He could be kind of funny in an annoying, grating, insulting disrespectful kind of way. He made a different joke about his butt cheeks every couple of days. “My buttcheeks went out to lunch today”. My buttcheeks tell me you’re wrong." “Don’t make my buttcheeks mad or else…” Just joke after joke, usually in a disrespectful way, always involving buttcheeks. He was on for a couple of years, I believe he actually came on this current forum in the beginning of the forum but was quickly banned. I believe some of the trolls were schizophrenic, I’ve seen people on here who are schizophrenic admit that they trolled.

Been around since 1998 or 1999, not entirely certain which year at this point. Been through many versions of the forum software.

I thought the software was ok for a long time but near the end 2012-2013 or something it just didn’t work right,
I remember the leaderboard I think, myself, Dook, Jukebox were all top posters I think.
apart from the trolls I still think we had more freedom of expression back them.
