For bachelors and budgets

FOOD.

These are recipes that are great for budgets,

Or make good leftovers.

Both @LED and @tera had have recipe threads that I can remember,

I thought it would be nice to compile some recipes we know to be budget friendly and easy.

These are just a few I know,

Please share your recipes with our broke friends and our friends that are not great cooks.

I could eat just breakfast burritos for freaking days.

Every Saturday I make bulk burrito filling and use it all week for my husband’s breakfast.

I get 18 eggs, a pound of sausage or bacon, and about 1 1/2-2 cups mexican style cheese.

Just fry up the meat, scramble the eggs, and add the cheese.

Put the filling in the tortilla (flour tortilla) and wrap the whole thing in aluminum foil.

The foil really makes a difference as it kinda softens the tortilla and makes them super portable.

I refrigerate the rest of the filling and just scoop a little out every morning, microwave it, and make a burrito.

You can dip it salsa, whatever.

Its delicious, cheap, and easy.

Here’s a recipe that is a little churched up…

I lived on this, saltine crackers and tootsie rolls when I was in college,

My sister used to live off popcorn and diet Pepsi. I flew out to visit her and said I can’t live off this. She said I think we have a box of saltines haha

That sounds very unhealthy!

However, I love popcorn.

Stale popcorn to be specific,

It gets all chewy when its stale, I love it.

No to the diet Pepsi,

That stuff is terrible!

This was back in the 80s. We thought everything was healthy lol

That makes more sense,

Oh, the 80s!

Its a great recipe,

I’ve made them several times.

They’re more crumbly than chewy,

But still cookies so, its a win.

Now the question is: Can you post a three ingredient recipe for cherry flavored diet 7-up and bologna sandwiches and a glass of milk?

Ha!

I was about to give you a hard time for eating junk food like that, but bologna sandwiches are freaking delicious.

Fried bologna on toast with some mustard, mayo and a pickle, that is no joke, one of my favorite parts of living.

The trick is to put the two pieces of bread in one slot of the toaster, so one side is toasted, one side is soft.

You can keep the diet soda…

Microwave cheese and salsa quesadilla with sour cream.

That’s all I have to add

That’s a great idea and I’m jealous I didn’t come up with it first!

Quesadillas are a very budget friendly and versatile food.

I did something similar in sixth grade when I was home alone and it burned and caught the cubbards on fire. Seriously, it was quite scary.
