Curry egg and potatoes and rice. Could be brown rice to be healthy. And some salad and avocado on the side.

Here’s a few variations on making your own hummus. I like to make jalapeño hummus, but i don’t add cilantro.

I’ve made something similar to this when I’ve had a sweet tooth and no treats. All you need is flour sugar canned fruit and butter. It’s peach cobbler.

Sometimes I make a scramble for breakfast or dinner with stuff I have around. Eggs, potatoes, asparagus, bell peppers, pork, ham, steak, onions, green onions, jalapeños, garlic. Choose your meat and vegetables or use them all. Chop or dice the vegetables and cut the meat into bite size pieces and heat some olive oil over medium heat in a large frying pan and cook the meat, set aside on a plate and then cook the vegetables. Put the meat back in with the vegetables and mix in some eggs and mix everything together. Maybe stir in some basil, oregano and cayenne pepper with the eggs.

Oh nice! I have an obsession with making things from scratch. It’s like a game to see if I can make it better than store bought.

My current favorite sauce for chicken and dipping fries is a clone of bigot chicken’s sauce (chick fil a)

Its super easy.

1/2 cup mayo
2 tablespoons bbq sauce
1 teaspoon mustard
1 teaspoon honey (you can adjust up or down)

Mix and pop in a container.

Personally I eyeball the ingredients and make a whole pint jar at a time.

Soft tortillas- follow the recipe on the link. You may need to add a little extra flour at the end so the dough is not too sticky. It is ok to be a tiny bit sticky.

Also, you simply must let the dough rest for 10 to 30 minutes before rolling out. Resting it allows the gluten to develop. That way it won’t spring back as much when you roll it out. This is true of many doughs.

This is a great recipe, but it has to be used faster than commercial mayo and cannot be left out of the fridge.

This one I haven’t tried yet because we do not use cow’s milk often. But if you can, it might help you.

Rotis / chapatis / phulkas

(Indian flatbread)

Can just be flour and water or you can also add a bit of oil and salt for flavour and softness. Easy and cheap to make. I make a lot of this.

What do you think about using butter instead of oil?

Butter always results in a slightly stiffer cooked product as it is solid at room temp. Better flavour, but also more saturated fats.

@shutterbug is correct as always. He is the cooking guru!

For the absolute best, I’d use softened lard. It’s not bad to use once in a while and we don’t eat enough tortillas to make it really bad for us.

Is softened lard available at a regular grocery store?

Regular lard is. Most stores sell it in blocks. You can melt or soften like butter and use in most applications you’d use butter or shortening.

SavALot sells it in big buckets for like $8.50

Ok. Got it. Thanks!

No problem!

Since I have been feeling better I am cooking progressively more and making as much from scratch as I can.
