So into the last part of my coming down a bit on effexor. It works great for my depression and it’s the only thing I’ve found to do the deed but it gives me bad ibs side effects I put up with for too long. Anyways…this week I’ve just started 150 mgs. I came down from 300 to 225 for 6 weeks and now I’m at the bottom level of 150. All going well.
Saying that. I think this is the bottom I’m willing to commit too. My depression is bad and I don’t want to spill the apple cart. I’ve already come unstuck moving off it years ago and where 50 mgs did the job I ended up having to go up to 300 for relief.
As always talk to your shrink. The rule of thumb for me is symptom control over side effects and looking for best efficiency really is worth it some times. Peace out.
I, too, recently lowered my dosage from 20mg zyprexa to 15mg. My psych-d suggested it and I was on board. It’s been three weeks and not noticing much difference.
All the best on regulating your meds. I agree on symptom control trumping side effects.
I was on 250 mg of Seroquel at night. But it was messing with my blood sugar levels, so I weaned myself off it with my pdoc’s approval.
So now I don’t sleep quite as well. But my symptoms are still okay, as a matter of fact it’s been a little quieter lately.
Knock on wood. If I have to, I’ll have my pdoc prescribe an alternative additional med to the 8 mg of Fanapt I take twice a day.
Yeah @gene and @anon65600981 it’s so good to be involved in your own treatment. I like my psydoc. It’s with his approval and I agree that 150 is as low as I’ll go. Very important to do it with your doctors ok…much peace to you two and hope it works out as well as this is going touch wood.
