I’ve never felt fear like I do now, after experiencing psychosis. I’m always scared, always hypervigilent. It feels like something terrible is going to happen all the time.
Is anyone else scared?

I’m often fearful to the point of being immobile. Some reasons I have to be afraid are legitimate reasons but often i am terrified of anything especially if my phone rings I always think if I answer something terrible will happen.
I feel irrational fear a lot. When someone asks me what I’m afraid of I just say, no idea, I just know I feel afraid. It comes and goes but is awful when it is happening.
I am hypervigilant, too @anon1517417. More so when i go out in public but at home also. I always feel like something could happen at any time.
Yea I have my days where I feel like that too. The constant noise and the barrage of thoughts don’t help either. I just have to wait for it to pass and hang in there.
@anon1517417 try taking slow breathing technique and focus on something in the room like flowers or a painting…something you like…sounds like panic disorder…I had that…you have to defeat the panic or fear with your mind by not caring about it anymore…easier said than done…but I overcame it, you can too.
This feeling of fearfulness could be caused by the meds. About 5 or 6 years ago I lived in fear. At that time I was taking invega 9mg. This feeling of fear lasted for about 3 years. Then in 2013 I made a switch of meds to Amisulpride. The feeling of fearfulness disappeared soon after that switch.
Yes.
I have felt like what is like terror and anxiety and overwhelming feelings n that I can not handle it not cope .
It is a awful feeling .
I tried listening to guided meditation and/or taking medication or going to .
It usually comes afternoon evening or sometimes if my bf gets called out.
Also about my closest that I love so much and miss.
I might not of made that connection.
Glad I read your post.
Yes. I feel scared all the time.
Yes I used to feel a sense of dread when things are going well. But I don’t attribute it to my one time psychosis. Have you tried many meds already? That’s the only thing I can think of that might help.
@anon1517417 I have often felt irrational fear. I used to carry a knife because I felt so unsafe and so certain that I was about to be attacked. I wouldn’t go out alone except to let my dog go to the bathroom, and I only did that right off our patio. If anyone walked past, I would grasp my knife in my pocket, ready for them to come for me. If cars passed, I would memorize their license plates in case they kidnapped me. In my house, I would get so scared, I would run into my bathroom after grabbing a baseball bat, my dog, and two phones (cell and landline). I could hear men in my house.
I used to call my psychiatrist’s office, but she eventually told me that she thought I was hearing external voices. After that, it kind of made sense, so I stopped calling her and would call my husband instead. When I see demons, I freeze in fear. No fight or flight, just deer in the headlights, frozen. I haven’t had either problem for a little while now, and I am so glad it has stopped. It is horrible to be scared.
