Favorite Decade of Music?

I’d still go with the 1980’s.

From AC/DC to ZZ Top…and everything in between. The 80’s were fun, sweet, upbeat…etc.

The 90’s to me was full of what I refer to as ‘complaint rock’. I never caught on to much of it. I think Oasis and Radiohead saved the 1990’s, though.

Thoughts?

The 2000’s are a blur to me musically.

I started a family and had less free time. It’s funny, my Uncle still raves about the 1950’s. I always joke that he stopped inputting information after 1959.

But I’m a chip off the old block, I suppose…I stopped inputting information after 1989.

I think the 70’s had great movies…Rocky, Star Wars, Jaws…etc.

I’m a big fan of the late 1970’s…Van Halen, Peter Frampton, Meatloaf, U2, Bee Gees…etc.

Another vote for the 80’s. I am most definitely an 80’s pop girl.

it’s a hard call, but I’d say it’s a tie for me, the 70’s and the 90’s.

The 90’s and 00’s for me

I was 14 years old in 1980…23 years old in 1989.

I saw Van Halen, Simple Minds, U2…all live during the middle of that decade. They were all in their prime as well.

Not sure if I’m looking back with rose colored glasses or not, but I just remember a more sweet and innocent decade. The mood of those years was really peppy and fun.

There was what I call ‘mystique’ back in those days.

You didn’t know every single thing about the artists you loved. You held them on a pedestal and fell in love with them on the radio first.

Then came MTV and it all exploded.

I am the same age as you Patrick and agree with everything you are saying. You’ll get no argument from me.

I think the 70s music is my fave. So much great soul and blues music.

@Sarah

Remember when you could dial a certain phone number, and your phone would ring back? (In Canada anyways)

41097 was what you dialed.

I still remember that number, unbelievably!

young 18, U2 Joshua Tree concert, got a ticket for 20 bucks, storming the stage, all of us, and front stage, people standing up on the folding chairs, many falling down, good friend Nora wanting to help them go back and get aid, wanted me to come with her.
Oh hell no, I’m not missing this concert.
She never talked to me again.

80s for me too. But early 80s.

Music now is formulaic.

If you remove dance music from the 90s, some of the music was decent though.
