I know I will get some disagreement but it’s NYC for me, with Chicago a close second. I also give an honorable mention to Kolkata.
What about you?

san diego…because of the constant nice temps they have there all year long…second, Phoenix…hot but worth the crowd I found…lots of culture there…
South Lake Tahoe for the beaches, hikes at Eagle Falls, and of course gambling at Stateline.
I dislike all cities. Small towns are where it’s at.
For me would be Mumbai. Colombo in Sri Lanka and in Europe would be Rome.
San Francisco for me 100%
San Francisco is a beautiful city. What do you like about it The best? Were you into the Castro scene?
I love the architecture. Size of the City. Love how it’s the epicenter of technology. It’s a small big city. 5 miles wide and tall and the beaches and bridges. The hippy vibe still underpins the city even though tech took over all the property but the old timers still are hippies.
I love that LGBTQ+ movement and history, that helped change the whole country.
I lived right on Haight and Ashbury but the Castro was the place to go to eat and have coffee and was the LGBTQ district. But the whole city made being LGBTQ a non issue. I was just a person in San Francisco. There was no stigma.
I hear that. When were you there?
Haight and Ashbury is sort of blown up now… so many hippy kids / travelers etc. And quite expensive. I spent time in the park there lol…lots of cannabis sale at the time and it wasn’t exactly legal yet. Got my medical card around the time when I was in Berkeley. Didn’t help my voices at the time.
That’s a hard one.
I feel I haven’t really been to enough cities to judge.
I liked NYC when I lived there.
Nairobi and Kisumu in Kenya was beautiful. I almost didn’t want to leave… I almost didn’t.
I also like Key West. Don’t know if that’s technically a city or a region or what.
I very much want to visit Nairobi
Can you tell me more about it?
I have a pretty bad memory… I should have kept a journal while there. But I was there when Obama got re-elected as president. There was parties in the streets and so many people would ask me “do you know Obama??”
The food and tea was awesome honestly.
I went through a volunteer program called IVHQ.
When it rained it would flood the streets. Oddly magical lol
Sounds amazing.
I was 21 - 27 in 2000 - 2006… it was crazy - kids moved there from all every part of the country.
I lived right on haight and ashbury with 3 roommates, paying $700 rent for a room. We got furniture off the street. It was a good time. And the old folks who were my age now were so cool and wise.
Yeah that sounds like the right time to be there. Very cool
Houghton, Michigan, the small community that contains the university I attended for undergrad is technically a city, or so I’m told. Yep a city of around 7000 permanent residents lol. It’s my favorite place in the world though, love it, maybe could retire there someday idk.
I’m with @shutterbug on this. I greatly prefer small towns.
When it comes to bigger cities, I’d have to go with Seattle. I haven’t been to that many big cities, tbh, but I went to Seattle last February, and it was great. The downtown was so vibrant, so full of life, and I loved it. Being from southeast Michigan I’ve of course been to Detroit (not nice), and also I have lived in Philly (just okay) and Baltimore (garbage).
I really like Sydney and Barcelona in the category of big cities.
I would love to visit both of those cities
