Favorite book about schizophrenia?

Anyone have a favorite book about schizophrenia? I personally own the audio book version of The Quiet Room. I love that book so much. Highly recommend it to anyone struggling with psychosis.

I read; I never Promised you a rose Garden, when I was young, but don’t remember any of it. Then I read; Girl Interrupted, and liked that.

My absolute fave true recount of schizophrenia is a book called Recovered, Not Cured by Richard McLean. Highly recommend it to anyone. Deals with first hand account of psychosis, share house life, sexuality, travel and more from a schizophrenic perspective.

I know this is a boring answer but the latest edition of Surviving Schizophrenia is really good. The guy’s honest about medications and recovery statistics, and provides a great list of works featuring Schizophrenia in recent film and literature.

I think the title would be translated to “Tomorrow I was always a lion” in English.
It’s a woman telling about her experiences with schizohrenia that started when she was a teen. She was very psychotic, and now she’s mostly fine and fully functional.
The book is about the progression or her illness, the treatment she received, and her path to recovery.

I like the center cannot hold, and I like the book about Ken Steele…I believe it is called When the Voices Stopped…I read it a long time ago. It is just about as good as The Center cannot hold.

Surviving Schizophrenia by E. Fuller Torrey was the standard around here for a lot years. Haven’t read the newer editions but it was on point and factual. I’d imagine the same.

I like The Quiet Room too. Read my copy twice. I can relate quite a bit.

I like “The Center Cannot Hold” by Saks because it has a happy ending which is why I’m not writing one.

I’d love to read The Centre cannot Hold if I could get my hands on it. I’ve heard about it but could never find it in libraries and bookshops
