Famous Women in history

Okay what started this off is that I was playing Europa Universalis 4 and they have events that happen in the game. Basically it shows you a little bit of history. What it talked about was a chinese woman that basically wrote smut(only know because they included a caption of what she wrote) historically and is being remembered as a great artist. Really EU4 that is the best you can manage?

So I got to thinking what great scientist or artist(any medium) that is a woman can you think of? I’m talking famous through history level. For example a super large majority of the current celebrities don’t cut it because I believe they will be forgotten in a century or two. So to make this something a little less biased they have to be already dead for a while. I will start by taking what I think is an obvious Madame Curie. Famous scientist great in her field contributed a lot to science.

Bjork is one of the most talented musicians ever in my opinion. She’s done jazz pop, gothic rock, post punk, comedy rock, alt rock, electronic pop, classical pop, alt pop. All her music is quite creative, but some of it gets overlooked because it has avant garde elements or because the lyrics are in Icelandic.

Alice Coltrane was a great jazz musician. She played harp and piano and was influential to avant garde jazz.

Alright but Bjork isn’t dead. I only stated I wanted deceased ones because otherwise this is just going to be all current celebrities.

Jane Austen, Emily Bronte, and Charlotte Bronte.

All three were great novelists during the nineteenth century whose works are widely read today.
Also, Marry Shelly - wrote “Frankenstein”, also widely read today.

Oh good thing. Yeah was commenting on her toughness and courage.

Basically it means someone who doesn’t care about their surroundings. They do what they want to do. Reminds me of the quote from The Departed. “I don’t want to be shaped by my environment. I want my environment to be shaped by me.”

How about the scores women of the early 20th century United States who were beaten, flogged, and jailed while fighting for the right of women to vote. You got it, girls.

Susan B. Anthony would be at the top of the list. Sadly she passed away before all of her tireless work led to women getting the franchise (the right to vote).
