I am trying to quit smoking for a healthier body…I tried chantix for 2 weeks and had success and thought my smoking habit is beaten…but only to find that it creeps back as I am non compliance on the meds.I had success with nicotine gum before for two weeks before I fell off the wagon.Now I am trying back on the gum and has bought a month supply…really hope it’s enough for me not to get back to cig.I think I am not trying hard enough to get off,hope it will be successful this time round.
Good luck! I quit several years ago. So glad I did!
How did you manage to quit?I tried chantix,but it made me depress for an hour of two after taking it,and sometimes feeling nauseous…i like the gum better as it still gives me the nicotine without feeling depress or too nauseous
I took a day and smoked as many cigarettes as I wanted. But I counted how many I had. The next 5 days I had 1 less, and then the next 5 days another 1 less and so on until I smoked 1 cigarette a day for 5 days. Then I just quit. There was no withdrawal. Also half way through I switched to light cigarettes. And that was it! I haven’t smoked since
Chantix is a problem because few finish the course and do it properly. I got neusiated but didn’t even finish the course. Most doctors get upset trying to give it too you because most folk get on the grog and smoke again.
It was the easiest thing in the world for me. Everything else was a problem.
I was a heavy smoker for about 18 years. I quit 34 years ago by going through aversion therapy. Back in 1985 when I quit, the therapy cost was $275, almost exactly what my tax return was that year. Best money I ever spent. The program paid for itself in about 10 months(cigs were a lot cheaper back then).
I had tried quitting at least 10-12 times before I actually succeeded. I tried cutting down slowly, cold-turkey, hypnotism, and acupuncture. Acupuncture got me from 30-40 cigs a day down to 5 a day no prob, but I just couldn’t quit until I did the aversion therapy.
For anyone trying to quit smoking, don’t give up trying because you’ll find the best way for you. Keep trying until you succeed. You won’t regret it. It’s win-win. Better health and (bonus!) more money in your pocket!
@Gtx1990
It’s worth the fight! You can do it!
I found switching to vaping was the easiest thing in the world.
I vape, haven’t touched a cigarette in 6+ years. There are quite a few on the forums who vape.
I’m going cold turkey from nicotine lozenges in a couple of days. Its going to be a rough week.
When is your last cigarettes?
Remember to bite the gum then press it to your lip or cheek. I heard it allows you to absorb the nicotine more effectively than chewing constantly like normal gum.
Good luck on quitting. Quitting smoking is one of the single best things anyone can do for their health.
