Wellbutrin really helped me with suicidal thoughts. I rarely have them ever since. It also gives me some energy.
It does make my voices slightly more frequent, but itās all manageable.
In my experience the pros outweigh the cons.
Thanks @TheFountainPen
Wellbutrin works well for me. No weight gain, no hopeless feelings, and an overall feeling of satisfaction & optimism. Iām also taking abilify IM, a version of carbamazepine, and trazadone for sleep. This is the magical combination for me, though I have noticed cognitive impairment. I often lack simple problem solving skills, have too many blonde moments, have trouble playing board and card games, and often find myself not knowing how to keep conversations going. Comprehension, judgement, and memory are good though. Before diagnosis, I was extremely extroverted and bubbly and graduated college with a 3.4 (not incredibly intelligent but decent at school).
Now, my mood is good, I sleep well, and Iām stable but my cognitive and social dysfunction often make me self critical and worried about how others view me. I have found that Wellbutrin has worked better than lexapro and Effexor for me. Iām not well versed on the ins and outs of treatment and medication, but I believe the impairments can mostly be attributed to the abilify.
I have either schizoaffective or bipolar1 and was told wellbutrin made me worse. I would have liked to remain on it for weight loss and for the uplifting feeling it gave me. It was the main reason I relapsed into psychosis/mania. I cant find anything to treat my depression when it happens so idk. I hope it helps you but it probably destabilized me.
Thank you @Elizabeth_K and @anon57496651 .
My pdoc gave me some for mornings in the hopes that it will help me shake off the medicine fog. Iām doing well on it, and Iāve been on it for maybe six months? No extra side effects that Iāve found. Iām on a 150mg of Bupropion XL.
Thanks @Happy_H
I took it for years and in terms of functionality it was a god send. I also became semi dependent upon it and had a love hate relationship with it in the end. It causes tinnitus which is under reported. It also isnāt great for the liver. It also has the propensity to cause seziures with antipsychotics also lowering the seziure threshold. I noticed muscle twitches at night settling into bed.
Below was enough to cause me concern in the end
I take Bupropion the wonder worker,
I cant smoke or unable to smoke a full cigarette.
It does not make me feel low, its like an energy booster.
I wish this med was given to me 3 months back.
Anyways there is always time to perform
Is the tinnitus reversed when you get off the medicine?
So i did some research and the tinnitus may be reversed but not always and its safer on the 150 mg dose then the 300 for side effects , tinnitus ect
Iām taking it to stop smoking, have been taking one week now
@Bowens I have tried it 2 times maybe. It always makes my anxiety much worse. I couldnāt remain on it long enough to give it a fair chance to see if it would have been truly beneficial to me or not. I have generalized anxiety disorder though, so I donāt think it was a good fit for me. I now take desvenlafaxine.
I hope it is beneficial to you though! Iāve heard from others who take it that it helps with mood and energy too. Best wishes to you when you try it!
Thanks @anon90992146 !
Wellbutrin has helped me tremendously. I stopped my meds recently for reasons I donāt really wanna talk about and boy am I missing my Welly bois.
It gave me insomnia. I would wake up at 2 AM and couldnāt get back to sleep. I dragged at work. I couldnāt handle that. I stopped taking it. You have to taper off carefully. Otherwise, the withdrawals are absolutely horrible.
I took it for the second time this year. The weird thing is I took it in 2009 and it helped me tremendously. I had no insomnia and tapering off was easy. Go figure.
Thanks @bittercat @HollyHobbie .
Many more people have tried it than I expected. Lot of responses.
