When my mind won’t shut off, a benzo will put me to sleep. But when I take a benzo to get to sleep, about six hours later I pop wide awake and ready to get up. Ideally, I think 8 hours sleep might be better for me, that is.

The way this med. affects people varies. I can take almost any amount of it, and it does nothing to me, but I have heard of people taking just 50 mg of it and going into a deep sleep for 20 hrs a day.
Hi. I’ve taken Trazodone 100 mg for about 6 months. During this time I slept…ALL DAY and ALL NIGHT. The doctors kept telling me I’d get used to the drowsiness side effect…well, that didn’t happen! After stopping it, I now have insomnia and usually only get ‘pass out’ sleep. The doctors don’t want to put me back on it because it made me sleep too much.
I suggest you start with a baby dose and work your way up. Don’t jump in whole hog.
