Trazodone for sleep

Well my pdoc thinks I’m in a mixed episode currently and he’s very concerned about my sleep. We talked about different options for helping my sleep and we ended up at Trazodone. Has anyone had any experience using this med for sleep?

I think @jukebox uses it for sleep.

I take 200 mg to sleep…works like a charm…my wife takes 50 mg…I need more to sleep…you can take up to 300 mg.

Thanks @jukebox I was just prescribed 50mg. Guess I’ll be trying it out tonight. What’s the usual onset?

I used 100mg for sleep. I felt it quit working after a week though.

I am usually asleep by thirty mins. or so…don’t know what 50 mg does for you…I need a lot more.

They gave me Trazodone when I was in the psych hospital, to help me sleep. It definitely helped, but I don’t know what dosage they gave me.

its a good drug. a little like seroquel to me. ive taken it but not for sleep. i take seroqiel for sleep right now but the doctor iz going to bring it back down about next week. i hope i can sleep then. my mind was furiously experiencing something and was up to smoking 4 packs a day.

I take trazodone and Seroquel and Haldol for sleep and still don’t sleep too well. My pdoc tells me I have a “complicated case”. No kidding.

It helped me for a while, then began giving me restless legs. Had to stop using it. Makes me sad because it qas nice being able to sleep.

When I worked as a psych nurse I saw trazadone quite often for sleep.

I take 1.5mg of clonazepam for sleep and get 5-6 hours with it.

A couple months ago I developed akathisia and got a prescription for Trazodone to alleviate it.

I take 75mg/day of Trazodone and my sleep has improved by an hour, and is of higher quality. Now getting 6-7 hours a night.

However, I tried up to 125mg of Trazodone for sleep a year ago before starting clonazepam and it was useless by itself.

My insomnia began after I quit Olanzapine.

I take trazodone 200 mg for sleep, and it usually works really well for me. Except for tonight. I don’t feel like I’ll sleep tonight, for some reason.

I take 200mg Trazodone for sleep and it seems to work fine, but I take a bunch of other meds (Seroquel, Haldol, Topamax, Lamotragine) plus Melatonin so it’s difficult to tell. I do get restless legs occasionally, but I was told that was from the Seroquel, but again, hard to tell.

I took 4,500 mg of it, and it didn’t put me to sleep.

I take 50mg before bed and it helps me sleep for sure.

Trazodone is an interesting med. At lower doses it helps w sleep and at higher doses it functions as an antidepressant. Also it’s its own class of medicine.

I’ve tried Trazadone, it worked for awhile.
