Im stressed out to the max over my exams next week. I havent even studied much, and time is running out. Im just not motivated, and I feel like Im not cut out for the program Im in.
Everyone else seems so studious and almost like workaholics. I dont know if I can keep up much longer, hell, Im already behind. How do I push past this mental block?
Just try to do your best @zwolfgang. It’s pretty common to be stressed during exam time. Try to pace yourself in terms of studying and then taking a break to relax and then study again.
Thanks, Im just worried I wont make it through my program. Its literally a dream come true that I got in, so I dont want to waste this opportunity. Ill take it slow like you said, youre right. And panicking wont solve anything
Theyre in-class exams, 5 hours a piece, and I have 3 of them. Two on the same day even
That’s interesting that the exams are in class. I remember most exams that I took during my MSEE degree were take home exams. They sometimes required several days to complete. In class exams were typically limited to 2 hours which is why most graduate classes opted for the longer take home exam format.
Thanks everyone for the support! Im feeling a little better about this now
@anon47167357 glad someones in this with me lol. Good luck! What do you study/
@Moonbeam Sweden is weird with this stuff. Im doing a masters too, but in nuclear engineering. Ive had final projects instead that were take-home but no exams so far
To keep my energy going I used to run in the morning and again mid afternoon. It gets your endorphins kicking if you get in some good cardio. I also used to try to stay slightly cold and I sat on the edge of an uncomfortable chair while studying. It kept me alert. I graduated with a 4.0 so it can be done.
I am constantly amazed at the quality of writing in my humanities online classes by my fellow classmates. Most humanities classes at this college have discussions once or twice a week where everybody is supposed to write 200-300 mini-essays on a topic and we all can see each others submissions.
At first I was totally intimated at how intelligent classmates sounded. I didn’t think mine would compare and be good enough. But once I got going I learned quickly that my papers were just as good and I got the grades to show for it.
Then my next realization a few years ago is that in a lot of cases their papers looked intelligent but looking closer in a lot of cases they had a few good lines and some big words but their papers were a little simplistic and not the great intellectual papers I imagined them to be in the beginning. It can be a relief.
Thanks everyone for the support! Tomorrow is a big day, If I can pass my exams next week Im home free till next semester basically, all I have left is one class to do an exam for (Nuclear Reactor Safety) which is very hard I heard, but its only one class, as opposed to 3 lol.
Then I will be halfway to being a nuclear engineer! My dream job, so everyone thank you again for the support, and wish me luck!
