I keep having feelings everyone thinks I’m stupid. Yesterday I asked a question on a physics forum and accidentally posted a question a second time. They started slamming me and I said I was sorry for being stupid. A moderator said “Fair enough. Thread closed.” Another said I may not be smart but I can be wise.

You are not stupid. It sounds like they were harsh with you. It’s ok to make a mistake. Sorry you had to deal with that.

A physics forum probably attracts a number of elitists who look down on everyone else. I wouldn’t worry about it.

I agree with others @PhotoGuy. You’re not stupid, the other people just have little patience and tolerance for someone that wants to ask a clarifying question. I love Physics too. To have an interest in such things is a clear sign that you have good working brain. Don’t take any heed of them. They’re fools.

I also for some reason take offense from people who tell me they’re sorry. I feel like they’re saying “I’m sorry you’re stupid.”

Dumb people can’t consistently produce photograhs of your caliber. Takes a working noodle to do that. Also? People who hang around physics forums tend to be smart on the intelluctual side, but correspondingly dumb on the social side of things. I mean, you’d have an easier time relating to a baked potato than physics bros. Don’t let them get to you.

I got between 16-19 on the last physics exam I took. It was due to being disinterested in the subject, and a lack of natural ability at it. The worst experience I had that was similar to the OP’s was when I was trying Linux , and went on a forum to ask a question. I got several snooty responses, without anyone actually taking the time to answer my question. I gave up on Linux after that. I didn’t want to risk having to ask another question, and be mocked again.

I posted my photography in that forum in the lounge section. They hated my photos. They said there’s “no point.”
