a man without a country… his last.
There was a short story by Vonnegut which talked about a pill that kept people from dying which caused extreme overcrowding and the main entertainment becoming sports events. He was filthy as could be but occasionally made interesting points about things. He once said that the purpose of his books was to say that “Life is absurd”. My Dad really liked him. One of the short story he’s best known for where he depicted a society where everyone was truly made equal was disturbing but made the valid point that we indeed are not born equal. I learned of what the significance of the loud noises being played in the ears of of the population through speakers was later but there are plenty of bedridden people who would identify with the weights although he had to not include blindness the get the story across.
