Empkoyer adjustments

What adjustments do you have or do you request when taking on employment?

Id like to know what i need to request if i am open about having sz. Which i havent disclosed to any employer except one who was a friend. This time im serious tho becuase its a mjor investment bank and i think theyll accomodate

@Joker i know i havent spoken to you directly before mr joker but im aware you have full time work at the moment (UK based as well), any advice?

Hope you dont mind

Bigger organisations tend to have more ability to accommodate people, and there is a real push to have a diverse workforce in a lot of places at the moment. With a SZ Dx, if you disclose it, that information will always be there once you do it. So make sure you try and keep to a minimum of people (i.e. HR or preferably a line manager or someone else you can confide in.) That’s just my advice, others may disagree, but I think if you want to be viewed as an equal, that’s the best thing to do.

My last desk job I did not formally tell them. When I had problems, getting adjustments was nearly impossible and extremely difficult. If you want to be in a position of being upfront and getting these adjustments, then I would be honest. But that’s totally your call.

I have requested and in process of getting:

  • Fully remote working
  • Time for medical appointments
  • Second screen
  • Option to still attend an office
  • No need to attend christmas party
  • Assistive technology (Mind Mapping software)

That list might get longer, but that’s the start of it.

Occupational health will have to assess you, and the wait in the UK for that is long. I waited 2 extra months before I could even be hired!

Absolutely happy to help if I can

Might be worth speaking to your mental health Trust, as they have employment specialists you could link up with who might be able to help you with the occy health or talking to your line manager

Good luck @AppleKidd !!!
