Elon Musk said his AI-brain-chips company could 'solve' autism and schizophrenia

He makes a comment offhandedly listing conditions Neuralink might treat in the future, but everyone’s too busy getting their panties in a wad over how he worded it for there to be any useful coverage.

Although he probably doesn’t have anything specific yet - this technology is way too new for there to have been any real research on schizophrenia or autism models.

Yeah, I don’t know how I feel about a mad billionaire tinkering around with microchips you insert into your brain.

But at least he’s trying to help, that can’t be said of many.

LOL. That does seem like a fair description of Elon Musk.

I guess I find it somewhat plausable since there are instances of people using DBS for schizophrenia, and there is some evidence for desynchronized brain waves contributing to symptoms. But I doubt there’s any research using Neuralink in schizophrenia model mice even. This is years in the future.

Oh I whole heartedly agree it’s a venue to explore. If this illness can be controlled in this fashion, or another, then I support research.

I’m hopeful we’ll see revolutionary treatment changes in our life times.

“I think he is just toying with your affections, honey!”

i doubt you could test it properly anyway, who would do that for the sake of research?

but a lot of people suffering with sz have this delusion anyway ‘that a micro chip is in their head’ now you can say say ‘not yet, but their working on it’
