Einstein was only 70%

At university, Einstein only managed to get into the 70’s for overall percent of his physics course but still managed to change and add to physics. I think this is fascinating.

If you have an interest in something, follow it through. You never know what you could achieve!

Origin Of The Story That Einstein Failed Math

The rumor that Einstein failed math in the fourth grade is not true. However, he did fail certain parts of the entrance exam when applying to the Federal Polytech School in Zurich. Einstein enrolled for the test when he was two years younger than other applicants, and performed strongly in math and physics, but poorly in the non-scientific subjects. As a result, his application was rejected and he continued his studies at the Canton School. Einstein applied himself and later passed the entrance exam, earning a place at the prestigious school in Zurich. Therefore, while Einstein did struggle with certain non-science subjects, he excelled at math throughout his life.

Yeah I’ve seen this too. But this post is about his final grade at university - it was “average”

I’m going back to school for theoretical physics. Pretty excited.

At least he passed comfortably!

I think that’s an achievement.

Edit: a lot of people who do great things weren’t great in school.

Also I always heard Einstein was an exceptional student. A lot of sources say that him having average grades was a rumor.

Yeah i think so too, but obviously compared to people who pass exceptionally at university like cum de laud and stuff - it’s reassurance to someone like me

Who knows, maybe you’re the next Einstein :grinning:

It’s never late to restart.

AI is one of the newest fields in science and engineering. Work started in earnest soon
after World War II, and the name itself was coined in 1956. Along with molecular biology,
AI is regularly cited as the “field I would most like to be in” by scientists in other disciplines.
A student in physics might reasonably feel that all the good ideas have already been taken by
Galileo, Newton, Einstein, and the rest. AI, on the other hand, still has openings for several
full-time Einsteins and Edisons.

I wonder why there is no nobel award for Computer Science

It would probably be classed as number theory, because a lot of compsci is classed or applied after number theory work

If I’m a stein, I’m probably closer to Frankenstein myself. Or Frankensteins monster to be more exact. :man_zombie:

Don’t say that. You’re cool (not that frankenstein isnt)

Good luck, hope you enjoy it

If he did not conform to the understanding of the day then it’s no surprise

I found myself at odds with some teachers at university because they were overly dogmatic and could not have an original thought if they tried

Btw I am not comparing myself to him!

I know you’re not, you’re saying it exactly how it is. They ARE dogmatic with their knowledge - I felt like that during my first degree too - it’s not nice to be on the receiving end of teachers of this nature

I wish I could go back and study

The independent nature of university worked well for me

Apart from the episode I had over an extended period of time it was actually one of the best things I ever did

My main regret was going all in on humanities

Even though I enjoyed it and did it for reasons other than a job at the end, what I do now would be enhanced by a STEM subject

But I can not do a full time job and study at the same time

Unfortunately psychosis has to be taken into account, and I can’t risk it now

Would you consider open university modules? It’s a very slow paced and independent option

Student finance england will fund you if you’re studying for a STEM subject through open university

Hmm. It would be a good thing to consider

I tried my local university last week and they said no to me doing odd modules

If I do a masters it would most likely be through work

The ones they have approved they fund through a apprenticeship levy and they give you a day a week back to study

Huge commitment
