Anyone use this med? Got it prescribed today (for real bad social anxiety). I’m going to have to taper off of wellbutrin and give effexor a go.
That’s an antidepressant. I don’t think it will do anything for anxiety but I have never tried it. I take Wellbutrin also.
Lexapro is a lot better for anxiety.
Effexor didn’t help me at all.
Antidepressants, or SSRIs are the standard treatment for anxiety as benzos are widely believed to be dangerous for a variety of reasons. Effexor should help. If wellbutrin was what you were being given before, you should see Effexor help more, but everyone is different. Hope it works for you.

It is not dangerous.
Xanax, ativan, maybe.

Idk about you but wellbutrin actually caused me a lot of social anxiety when I was on it, so its probably good that youre switching. Ive heard good things about effexor for SA but havent tried it myself. For me zoloft was the ticket, but everyones different

I’m on seroxat and it helps low mood and social anxiety but my problem is paranoia and voices

I took it for 10 years.It worked wonders in the beginning,but after I felt foggy on it.I used to go off,and instead what people wrote,never had problems with withdrawal symptoms after 3 days.Used to be on 150 mg Effexor XR.
Worked for anxiety. Became a bit numb though. Caused real bad withdrawals - psychosis.
Maybe you are right about withdrawal,I always switched to Zoloft immediately and didn’t have problems…

Yes, maybe it is different when you switch to another med. I went from only efexor (no other AP or AD) to nothing. I was totally messed up, with mood swings and psychosis.
