The main reason we are looked down at generally in the smarts department is because we are internally distracted from letting our minds come out and shine because as far as they tell me part, or parts of our mind has developed a mind, or minds of their own which don’t agree which often fight the part of our mind we are still in control of. Our delusions are usually some extremely creative stuff and if we could control it we could make it beautiful. Instead all too often the mind fights itself. Actually genius and madness runs side by side in families too. Einstein’s son was schizophrenic. In bipolar disorder which is what most of the geniuses mentioned had the hallucinations or interference is less prominent. Thus they achieve more than those of us more severely stricken by schizophrenia. And by the way did you ever notice how many movies and books are like your experiences with hallucinations? However I feel that the benefits of curing schizophrenia and cancer would likely outweigh the risks and end a lot of suffering.
Who am I to say anything noteworthy on this matter, bro ?!! My IQ is higher than average but not genius level. I believe most geniuses didn’t have schizophrenia and in the future we will rely strongly on artificial intelligence who will far surpass anything a mere human could produce. So I am all for the use of gene editing to end the mental illness epidemics.

Couldn’t they possibly modify the gene that causes Sz instead of erasing it…maybe getting rid of the crazy as ■■■■ parts…checking what’s left over…maybe they could keep the hyper intelligence…isolate it and then replicate and add it in to our upgrade slots…yes we have unused gene slots…did I just come up with a plausible way to enhance our whole race…Nobel prize winning idea if I say so myself…lol
If you canceled or nulled the gene that makes us Sz your brains chemistry would adjust accordingly…there wouldn’t be the DNA command line…DNA is boss everything else just follows its commands…example my hair color is brown…if the took out the color command and changed it blonde…my body would follow suite…
