Has anyone had electroconvulsive therapy done? My psychiatrist has just submitted a recommendation for me to help with my depression. If you’ve had it done, what was your experience like? I’ve done some reading about it and I’m worried about the memory loss, still I’m willing to try it .

Before I start I have to say I’m not a fan of ETC It’s something from the dark ages, but they still recommend it for treatment resistant depression in my country. At least they anaesthetise you these days, so it’s not akin to electro torture.
They often offer you a course of ETC, so you might have to receive it more than once,
It can wreak havoc with your short term memory, so I’ve heard of people having to relive the grief of lost family etc.
What I got told by someone else I know who had it it to write down everything that she had done recently or passwords to things like fb new pin codes etc so she wouldn’t have a problem if she forgot about them.
