E readers, to buy or not to buy

The question for me is whether to invest in an ereader or not?

I think I will brainstorm the idea:

My bookshelf is full and I could just stack books up, but I always have to wait a week or so for delivery of new books.

The kindle is cheaper and instant delivery. I believe in November it will also give access to 3rd party sources.

Some of the books I order have tiny writing in them making it difficult to read.

Of course, you don’t actually own kindle books. Technically it is leased.

I go through phases of reading. Sometimes i don’t read for a month or two.

Is 8gb of storage big enough?

I had an old version of a kindle from over 10 years ago, I think with no backlighting etc. Is it more comfortable to read these days?

Can anyone think of any other reasons to buy or not buy an e reader?

What do you think of e-readers? Good or bad?

Alll’s I know is I love my kindle. I don’t regret giving up phsyical copies of books. For me my music is in itunes and now my reading is on kindle. It’s plus is almost instant delivery. Books tend to be significantly cheaper. It’s easy to use and read. It’s a good bit of kit. ( I am a fan! )

Nope. I have a phone and a laptop (that I never use).

Previously I would have suggested that you download the Kindle app for your own phone/tablet/laptop and try it out that way.

But recently due to play store politics you can’t buy books in the app itself.

But if you can buy the books on the website (which i think you can) and read them in the app and are happy with that then you could still try that before you splash out on a dedicated ereader.

You posted awhile back about kindle allowing access to other publishing formats in November, did you not?

I don’t use Kindle personally though. I just thought it might be of interest to others here.
