Hi guys!
I’m wondering if you guys know if there’s any medications like abilify but without the compulsive gambling as a side effect…
abilify is brilliant im awake alert and more functional I don’t just sleep all the time anymore like I did on Solian and zyprexa. However it has caused uncontrollable gambling on lotteries…
I’m hoping there’s another drug that will help my sz symptoms without putting me to sleep or making me drowsy and of course doesn’t have the compulsive side effects…
I think Rexulti is much like Abilify. I have to stop it though since it makes sleeping very hard. On 2 mg Rexulti, I just woke up at 2 AM and couldn’t get back to bed.
Rexulti might do the trick for you. I really like it. I got mild td at 4mg so I had to go down to 3mg but everyone is different. It is slightly stimulating and I don’t gamble at all. I also wake up early but I don’t mind, I just take a nap later if I get tired.
I went blind for 3 days after 2 doses of low Abilify in probably 2007ish, I know my daughter was under 2 years old. ER did spinal tape, etc, tried to flush my system and blood of it, but 3 days with a 1 year old, 2.5 year old and 4 year old with no eyesight, luckily my husband was there, and we lived with my grandmother who we were to be taking care of, but she ended up taking care of my kids till my eyesight returned. My pdoc at the time didn’t return my calls for 2 weeks, so I went endless for 2 weeks. Then it was a crap storm of side effects, allergies, physical symptoms, etc. Which is why I am considered drug resistant, because nothing has ever worked. Ever. Zyprexa sedated me into a zombie, and they were happy with that for years.
I’m currently on Latuda, and it’s not sedating at all.
I feel like I’m more emotive than I was on Abilify, but in a good way.
I don’t know about compulsive gambling, but abilify and it’s dressed up cousin rexulti both made me extremely angry. The only two antipsychotic medications I’ve been on that don’t make me tired are latuda and invega. Latuda didn’t work on psychosis. Invega Sustenna is the best thing I’ve been on. It depends on the person too. I don’t know where you are from, but in some places the have gene-site testing. They take a DNA sample from your cheek and can determine which medicine will work best for your system. It takes some of the guess work out of it.
Rexulti and Vraylar are similar to abilify.
There is Vraylar and Rexulti which are also partial dopamine agonists.
