Drinking on APs

Who here does this? I have heard mixed opinions of people doing this. Some say they feel fine while others feel terrible and can’t have more than a few glasses of wine or beer without feeling too drunk.

I have no problem but I don’t drink to get drunk anymore. Just drink to socialize so only a few drinks a night. I like craft beer a lot. Wish I could drink more but find when I’m drunk I risk sanity due to potential lack of sleep.

I can’t drink, I get drunk and throw up.

I’ve had a glass of wine on my meds. Didn’t really notice any difference.

I can have a few drinks and feel normal, but I have never tried to drink enough to get drunk on my meds.

I’ve had a few smirnoffs on meds a few years ago, felt good but after about 30 minutes I felt completely sober. I also hear it’s bad for your liver to mix meds with alcohol, but I’m no dr.

As a general rule, i don’t drink alcohol. There really isn’t much alcohol that i like - i find the taste of most alcohol repulsive. However, i am partial to the odd cocktail provided it is fruit or milk based. I haven’t noticed any negative effects when having alcohol.

If the warning on your APs says don’t use with booze, don’t use them with booze. If you do anyhow, you’re either stupid, an alkie, or both.

I hardly drink, and if I do, not too much. I feel now instead of getting happy and relaxed from a drink or two, I fall asleep and get sedated. Not fun at all for parties. So I tend to avoid alcohol mostly.

Interestingly, nobody - pdoc, nurse, farmacy - told me I couldn’t drink. They also didn’t tell me until 6 years in that I was not allowed to drive first 6 months after psychosis, and still not insured if I make an accident right now and they find out about the meds. I think they should explicitly tell a few of such instructions.

I take naltrexone which kills all alcoholic cravings

I drink every weekend, I get drunk pretty fast thanks to AD. My pdoc told me all I’d feel is drowsiness and the alcohol would deactivate the effect of meds, that’s it, no danger atleast in my case.

I drink on Aps. They say I shouldn’t but I do.

I feel even worse than normal the next day. Think it’s due to the meds

Im ashamed to admit that i drink daily on my depot jab and lately on risperadone. Apart from being addicted to booze (And stupid) i dont find any ill effects. Tho i am aware it does counteract my drugs and im sure i would be on a lower dose if i didnt drink. Its one of those things drinking that i simply have not got the willpower to deal with at the moment :frowning:
