Drinking and Abilify?

I’d like to drink and take some ■■■■ and become very intoxicated on Saturday… Is this dangerous? If so, why? Are there alternatives to drinking which are safer?

Yes, not drinking.

First thing you’ll notice is your reaction and motor skills going downhill pretty fast. And you’ll get sleepy quicker. These effects occur with alcohol alone, but abilify increases these effects. For me it does at least, and it says so on the package as well. I would worry more about the other ■■■■ you were planning to take.

That doesn’t sound so bad. :0

Just some stuff that has similar effects to alcohol, but more chill. Not sure, might happen. Would that be harmful, or would I just fall asleep?

I’m not encouraging you, just stating what it does for me. For instance pot is a nightmare for me and this makes sense for it contributes to psychosis. I would discuss at all times with your doctor.

Right, I’ve got an appointment tomorrow. Will bring it up, thanks.

I drank all the time when I was on abilify, I had absolutely no bad reactions with it. Actually I could drink 10x more than I used to and hardly get drunk. I don’t encourage alcohol, but yeh, no problems with abilify and alcohol for me. You have to take into account that everyone is different though.

Also , DO NOT TAKE ECSTASY WHILE TAKING ABILIFY, it almost killed me once. Alcohol is mostly fine but please be careful with class A drugs.

How come it almost killed you dude?

I know that anti-psychotic medication blocks out the majority of the effects of psychedelics, stimulants, and dissociatives; but I have never heard of them having that bad of an interaction that it almost lead to death.

I’m not doubting you at all though, I’m just trying to brush up on my knowledge and understand why that could happen.

It was like the ecstasy was trying to get me high but I could feel anything except for my heart was racing uncontrollably and felt like I was gonna die. If I’d taken anymore than I had I’m almost certain I would have been killed. It was so terrifying. I used to take ecstasy all the time, but that time with abilify was dangerous. All my friends were so happy and out-of-it that they couldn’t notice me having the dangerous panic attacks. I just had to wait it out. It was totally scary.

Well ■■■■ that, fair play to you for riding it out alone though, I can’t imagine how terrifying that must have been.

Yeh man. I used to love ecstasy as well.

I got drunk several times while on Abilify and nothing bad ever happened. Don’t get drunk if you’re taking a benzo though. When I did that I ended up stopping breathing at random points during the night while sleeping and waking up gasping for air. Yikes.
