I feel really… strange on them… kinda like a mix between being drunk and being … tired and dizzy.
Yes, the initial few days to weeks of taking them is honestly hard. You start to notice the side effects very quickly. But that’s just the meds starting to alter your dopamine and serotonin levels.
The side effects should lessen over time. So don’t be discouraged by them. Stay committed to your meds. They will pay off!
Oh, and a little caffeine will help too
Blessings,
Anthony
Hang in there Sasha. I hope this med change will work wonders for you:)
I really wish that things work out for you @sasha - feeling out of it or ‘different’ is a natural reaction when starting these meds. Saphris and Geodon are good meds - Please hang in there @sasha - you just may be on the road to feeling better
I missed this thread entirely! Sorry about that!
Well done on being honest, honesty is the way forward! I hope the meds work out well for you and that you adjust quickly! It may be the right combo, it may not be, but stick with it and you’ll get to where you want to be!
Take care,
Meg.
I’m glad you were able to open up to your doc and that she decided to work with you on the meds and take your fears of being in hospital into consideration. Now you have time line and a goal.
The meds do feel weird at first. I felt very muted and sort of removed when the meds were starting to take a hold. This is in no way a good analogy, but it’s the only thing that comes to mind…
I would feel like my nerves were completely sunburned and instead of just a bit of soothing aloe, the meds were like covering it all in a heavy wax shirt. But when everything leveled out, I wasn’t jumping out of my skin, I was able to concentrate again. The panic attacks lessened.
My blood pressure has dropped. I figure it’s because I’m not on the verge of pure terror all the time. Hang in there.
I’m rooting for you.
Exactly how I felt at first. Your body gets used to the drugs. Caffeine is a necessity for me, I am still waking up right now and just finished my coffee. I am so glad to hear that you are on meds and not in the hospital! That is some good news!
If they’re strong enough to work, they are strong enough to have side effects. Just remember that and drink some strong ass coffee to combat the dizziness and drowsiness. I remember being Geodon-drunk…you gotta take Geodon with plenty of food or it totally messes you up. The drug is actually short acting and needs to be taken with food, 400 cal at least and fat to help it absorb better and not just spike in your bloodstream, make you feel sedated and drunk and then leave in 8 hours.
do take the Geodon with food. It is a necessity. I just took mine with two pieces of french toast, rather light breakfast because I was too tired to eat more and I just woke up and had to take my meds ASAP because its noon here and theyre overdue.
You dont really pull it together- the meds do that for you. Just take them like you should (with food) and everything should be alright. Typically, Geodon is to be taken twice a day, with breakfast and dinner. The manufacturer says that is how it should be taken, I listen to the people who made it.
It takes a little time to get your body adjusted to new meds. My doctor raised mine and I am feeling it too. It will take some time to get used to it.
I was in this boat for a while. My doc raised my dose due to some family stress and I’m feeling a bit floaty and disconnected and wax covered. It took some time to get used to. I’m going to try an drop my dose back down after summer.
