So I have an issue where I think that the same people are following me around. I see faces that are similar quite a lot and I think it might be the same people or the simulation recycles character models. Maybe my ability to recognize faces is messed up, but it could also be shapeshifters, i’m not sure. Anybody else have similar experiences with repeating faces? I can’t be the only one…
They say some people are unable to identify people by their face. I’m not saying that’s the case here. But a interesting fact.
It didn’t used to be this way. I think when I started showing symptoms ten years ago, the things i would write off as similarities and coincidences became things I started to question and look for answers in. When I was healthy I would see a face and just say that it looked similar, but now I question if it is the same person and think of a million scenarios of how that would be possible.
Well. Facial recognition is actually a skill. Some people remember every face they see, while in the other end of the scale people can’t identify people by their face at all. They have to use other paramaters like voice, clothing, hairstyle, etcetera.
I wouldn’t worry too much about your experience. The first step is aknowledging that although you have a seperate reality, you are not alone in the world. There are billions of people living in the same world. Some of your delusions you can counter just by aknowledging that if it really was so it would get out in the open because then there would be tons of people having the same experience you have.
I have always been good with faces. But also I think a lot of people don’t pay much attention to how people they don’t know look. Your brain doesen’t need to remember people you have nothing to do with. This could explain why you think you see the same faces.
Sounds like paranoia in the modern age
I pretty much remember anyone ive met. It weirds people out. I almost have to pretend i dont know them. Like it could be 5 years later and i know where i met them and what it was about.
There needs to be some sort of interaction worth remembering to put it into memory for me tho.
I’ve had weird experiences where peoples faces seemed uncannily alike to historic figures. I was so confused. I thought I was in an entirely different time period. I also saw peoples face morph into other faces. Looking at it now could be a perceptual fault in the eyes or brain, else, projection . But at the time I was extremely convinced by what appeared to my eyes to show. It was dreamlike. I also had a thing going on for a while about ‘shapeshifters’ seeing faces and figures seemingly show themselves out of shadows whilst walking typically. I think they are originally called the Sidre or pronounced She, of Ireland. I used to read books about the Otherworlds in celtic mythology. The Irish travellers still hold such beliefs. I’ve known a few. Quite extraordinary people. I typically remember faces over names. As to doppelgangers there is a chance two people separated by distance perhaps, or proximity, or time look alike. But that’s evolution at work I guess. And chance. Still a perculiar thing to occur and can either be delightful or distressing.
I get the opposite of deja vu quite often with places and objects. I will think something changed or got painted or redone or whatever when nothing has changed.

Yes. Quite often, I think I see people from my past, in public. Like… everywhere. I keep seeing ex friends and ex boyfriends or girlfriends.
But, it should be noted that my facial recognition abilities are pretty poor. When watching a new TV show, it takes me a really long time, like 8 episodes in, before I can tell some of the characters apart. Like, if two people have blonde hair, but very different facial structure, I can’t really tell them apart until I’ve watched several episodes.
