Why does increasing dopamine improve my sz negative symptoms but make my positive symptoms worse? I think I have dopamine hypersensitivity. I took Ldopa supplement 7 pills at once and it significantly improved my negative symptoms but I was hearing voices. Why does dopamine worsen my psychosis? I have a bad luck as some users here are on stimulants that increase dopamine function like Ritalin and Adderal without positive symptoms.
What to do? Should I take the whole bottle, 180 pills to be functional regardless of positive symptoms?
" Like most other drugs that people misuse, THC stimulates neurons in the reward system to release the signaling chemical dopamine at levels higher than typically observed in response to natural rewarding stimuli"
it is what it is. by negative symptoms you mean no affect and lack of drive? Its probably due to the meds mostly anyways. Though some of it is there without the meds. My prodromal phase was very long (like 5 years) and I became less active.
My Dr told me a lack of dopamine can happen in sz regardless of meds but meds can make it worse. My negative symptoms were best on Abilify, its a partial dopamine agonist.
I tried 15% Ldopa, I should try 99% Ldopa. Fkn Drs wont prescribe me stimulants like Ritalin and Adderal, they said I will end up psychotic in mental hospital.
I imagine partial dopamine agonist like this. Dopamine receptors are not closed off by something but somehow docked by something that can be docked again by dopamine. What that means I don’t know. Its not normal dopamine goes to the receptor but dopamine goes to the abilify…
I recently read a article about this. Because the AP drugs supress dopamine, the brain can gradually develop hypersensitivity to dopamine because it gets desperate attempting to scavenge it.
I would be careful with dopamine supplements, because the hypersensitivity can cause abnormal things to happen if the brain suddenly is presented with abundance of dopamine.
