Don't know what to do

I signed a lease with my new apartment and gave notice to my current landlord.

My case manager says some of the guys at my psych clinic will move me, but he’s farting around about setting a date and making arrangements.

A professional moving company I contacted yesterday wants me to pay a deposit and make a reservation in the next couple of days to book them to move me October 21st. That’s a definite if I pay them a deposit.

I have to be out of my current apartment before November 1st. I would feel more comfortable if I had definite plans in place.

Do you think I should tell my case manager to forget it and hire the moving company? Starting today through next Wednesday I can’t contact my sister because her daughter is getting married, unless it’s a dire emergency. I’m unable to get her advice.

Yes I do. Just my opinion.

If you can afford the moving company I’d do that.

Thanks @everhopeful @LilyoftheValley. I think I can just afford the moving company, especially if they are able to move me in five hours, which was the low end of their estimate. I have to pay a minimum of two hours and $150 minimum for the truck. The $150 is for a day of use. They are going to charge me $189 an hour total for the three guys.

IDK. It’s a choice between having the security of a dependable moving company vs some random guys. OR using the random guys and save money.

It usually turns out if you get friends or family or acquaintances to help you move, if they break something you usually don’t make them pay. With the moving company, I believe, you can buy insurance so they have to pay if there’s any damages.
