Doing a good thing for myself

So I’ve made a decision. I’m tired of being so overweight, so I’ve started on a diet and exercise regimen. Nothing fancy, just caloric restriction, and to exercise I’ve taken to aerobic dancing. I put on some music on Pandora and go wild, it’s a lot of fun!

Right now I weigh 241 lbs. My goal is by May to weigh 180, and then if that goes well, by July I want to be down to 165. That’s 2 lbs a week, which should be a sustainable rate of loss. So far it’s been going well, I don’t end the day hungry, and I have plenty of energy now thanks to the medication switch so I can dance without wearing myself out right away.

So that’s what I’m doing for myself. It’s all in the name of looking good naked, which I think is a worthy goal! Wish me luck!

This is very cool. Good luck and I bet you’ll make it.

2 pounds a week sounds very doable and achievable. I bet you’ll do great.

 I like your style.

Sounds like you are on a good road - I wish you all the best with your new healthy lifestyle change - I am still on a low carb diet but I am allowing myself more healthy carbs - I am eating oatmeal again! I think that my brother was right when he said eat healthier foods but in moderation, maybe he is right - I may try doing it this way - How is the Abilify working out for you so far?

The Abilify is working great! I feel so much better than I did on the Risperdal, much more energy, and I’m just in a much better mood overall. I guess my doctor didn’t put me on it to begin with because I didn’t have insurance when I first started seeing him, but now that I do I don’t have to worry about cost so I can go for the good stuff

I’m so glad your feeling better and the med change was a success. It sure does make a difference when the meds work well. It’s great to hear you sounding so happy.

Glad you have a chance to switch to something that is working so well for you.

May your days continue to get better.

Thank you! I think the diet has something to do with my mood too, doing something positive for myself is a good feeling. Also, I’m getting back into garb making, though I didn’t score the big contract I got last year, I have a few little commissions that I think will be good for getting me back into the swing of it. And I just created a Viking persona, so I’m gonna make a whole bunch of apron dresses and kirtles and stuff like that. Things are looking up for me!

So glad you are doing better? I am losing weight too. No exercise. bah…haha…I just eat frozen dinners. the little ones. Lost 34 pounds so far.

I’m glad you found something that works for you! I haven’t been dieting long enough to really notice a difference yet, but I feel pretty good about it.

It’s good to exercise and eat healthy. I’m glad you’re doing it. I’m just starting to exercise again.

You realize that a diet is a life-long endeavor? If you make your “goal weight” but then you go back to eating the same way that made you gain it in the first place then you will gain it all back–and probably more. I will throw in this depressing statistic that I have heard in various places. 95% of people who lose weight gain-it all back within 5 years. But statistics don’t matter sometimes. But you’re starting out right, 2-3lbs of weight loss a week is generally (from what I’ve heard) about the maximum you should be losing for a safe weight loss. AND, the slower you lose weight, the more likely you are to keep it off. As opposed to losing (for example) 35 lbs in two months on some fad diet. Good luck.

Tonight I’m accepting the chaos that my day was + not have to do anything about it until tomorrow.
