Does talking to yourself indicate bad mental health in any way?

I talk to myself, sometimes more than others. I guess it helps me think. I was just wondering if there’s any link between talking a lot to yourself and your mental health state.

Do you talk to yourself?

I don’t talk to myself out loud. But my dad does and he doesn’t have MI.

Yes, it means you are mentally not balanced, but it is said when you need expertadvice talking to yourself can’t be that wrong.

That’s good to know. I never talked to myself when I was a kid/teen as far as I can remember. It’s something I’ve started to do more often as I’ve gotten older. I feel like it’s something adults do more often than kids maybe

I talk out loud to myself in public. I don’t mean to, but I catch myself doing it.

We talk to ourselves but it’s more of a DID thing. Though I will also just talk myself through things

Nah, its normal. The dr that first diagnosed me as sz said it was very normal

I asked a dr about the way I talk to myself recently and she said as long as I’m aware I’m not actually talking to someone else I’m golden. Some people are just verbal processes

Talking to yourself is like thinking out loud. Sometimes hearing your own thoughts out loud can help acknowledge and process them.
