Does nostalgia bring you down?

Ive been watching old episodes of tv shows I used to watch as a teenager like “miami vice”. It reminds me of all the hopes and dreams I had that never actually materialised.

What a downer! Does nostalgia bring anyone else down?

I don’t get nostalgia anymore. I like the present.

It does sometimes, but I haven’t really been feeling nostalgic like that lately. I’m too worried about what’s going on in the present, as well as my future, to be very focused on the past.

I was feeling very nostalgic when I was living in another country. But It was a symptom in my case. It was too painful. yes, lets look at the bright side now

I like the new shows with that 80s vibe like stranger things or other shows that are now taking place in the 80s. They should do a That 80’s Show . Also 1984 was the greatest year for movies ever

They did a That 80s Show, back in 2001 or 2002, and it was terrible. I was never a fan of That 70s Show.

Mine is more like a fear

One day I will say life passed me by… I will look back in regret.

I already look back a bit on my choices and think they were not good.

I do. It makes me happy but yet it also hurts a lot. I don’t want to think about it and I’ve gotten better. I now live day to day and the future. Ya but being a kid was awesome! Great shows, great emotions. I was never sad. Occasionally but I’d get over it in an hour or so.

Yes big time @everhopeful - I often find myself reminiscing about the ‘old me’. I find contemplating the fact that some people have it much worse helps. That may sound negative, but it helps to put things in perspective.

Still doesn’t stop me reminiscing though…

Sometimes the innocence of certain eras makes me reminisce on how things used to be so different in my country.

I remember in the 80’s and 90’s people in society in general seemed more friendly and polite.

Of course my memory could be skewed because I was very young during those eras. And people were probably more open to my faults. Hmmmm.

You got me thinking @everhopeful Good topic!

I think i was always too busy to form any hopes or dreams as a teenager. I just picked what i wanted to do and did that.

Does it tick me off that i am not a exactly a spring chicken any more? well, alittle. I dont think anyone likes to admit we are getting older.

Yet, that does not stop me from finding joy in my everyday life.

Looking at old stuff like that brings back a lot of good memories:

Movies I saw with my kid when he was little. Shows i watched with dear family members who have since passed. And, i remember their funny comments on the show or how much they loved that show.

I reminded of what was going on in my life or who i knew, or where i lived by old shows. Lots of great people have come and gone (not all passed!) during my life. Sometimes i wonder what ever happened to them.
