Does everyone here sleep all day And have general lack of motivation? I know I need meds but i sleep all day long or worse lay in bed all day long.
its probably the meds I know for me it is anyways
I’m not on meds and have very low energy level. Would sleep all day if I could afford to. It’s a huge pain in the butt and there hasn’t really been anything so far that can fix that.
so you dont take any meds at all? your doctor allows you to be off meds?
When I’m in a deep negative swing… yes… I get very flat. The motivation dries up and leaves me with nothing. 10 hours of sleep isn’t enough and I just don’t have the energy to do much.
Lately… I’ve been in a manic phase… I accept that now. I’ve been sleeping less and still been jumping around.
I don’t have sz, I have a non-specific psychotic disorder so my situation is a little different.
My therapist and pdoc had been trying to put me on antipsychotics for a long time but I’ve chosen for a number of reasons not to be on them.
My pdoc and I came to a compromise that I would at least go on anti-anxiety meds. So I’ll hopefully be starting Gabapentin by the end of this month.
I’ve recently come off meds and now find that I have no energy, and snooze during the day. Despite having a morning coffee. I didn’t feel like this on meds. I’m only off meds for a few weeks, but that’s certainly one difference I’m noticing already.
It is a full time job to stay on top of symptoms and be off of medication. Add another full time job onto everything else you got going on and you’re going to be totally spent all the time.
At least that’s how I rationalize it.
When I’m off work I have to rest a lot. While at work there is no chance for resting. I am very tired when I get home but only sleep 4 hours.
I sleep 8 to 10 hours a night. I normally go out and do something in the mornings. Then in the afternoon I’ll lay down and rest for about 3 to 4 hours, not sleeping…just resting. I have to rest a lot in order to feel ok and to cope. If I go too much without rest the stress amps up and the paranoia starts to creep in.
I read somewhere in this forum I think, that if we sleep for many hours, our energy levels are decreased. I have observed it myself, when I sleep normal (about 9 hours), I have energy the other day, I am able to do more things.
I sleep between 7-8 hours a night. I am always running on low energy and lack motivation to do anything if I did have energy.
i slept for like 24 hours recently
for me the only way to stop the low energy/ motivation is to get into a routine of sorts. like to sleep during the night, wake up in the morning, eating at certain times of the day, working out etc.
think routine is good but not a fixed routine, like not having a fixed time but to do something around that time, cos if you break that fixed routine you might ‘ruin the day’ kind of thing. not have a fixed routine but a balanced one…if that makes any sense
When I was on Haldol I laid in bed a lot. Now that I am on Geodon and Seroquel I don’t do that. I do get my days and nights completely turned around on the weekend. I don’t sleep much at night and I doze through day treatment. I’ve always had insomnia.
I’ve had low energy for 45 years. The doctors act like it is the most surprising thing when I tell them. They give me stupid suggestions on what to do about it.

If you’re sleeping all day you probably need a dose change or a different med.
I too have had difficulty maintaining consciousness!
Do you ever go outside to absorb direct Sunlight. I go out in it at least once a day and believe it shines healing energy down on us all good and evil alike.
