Does anyone have a hard time speaking?

I’ve noticed now I struggle with every day conversations. I stutter a lot and feel like words just get sucked out of my head mid sentence a lot. Like every conversation I have. people get irritated, i get irritated too. And no it’s not just from anxiety. It’s worse when I’m anxious. I’m on zyprexa and seroquel and not currently psychotic at all. Idk what’s going on

I do the same. Stutter alot, forget what I’m saying, zone out. Usually stay pretty silent.

Yes, I will get nervous around others in a conversation and I will slur or stutter. I’ve had brain surgery before I got psychoses and they said I would have speech problems. I have way more speech problems on ap’s. I also try to stay quiet so I don’t slur my words.

Yes, I used to have this problem too. I think it’s cognitive when you have a speech deficit.

While I don’t technically have a problem with speech, I often take a long time to reply. I’m afraid if I don’t fully process what was said to me, I might give a wrong or foolish answer, but I think it sometimes makes conversations with me even more awkward than if I stuttered.

And it makes it hard to converse, especially in a conversation with more than 2 people where everyone is looking for an opening and will take a moment’s silence to butt in. Sometimes I just give up and listen to them talk to each other instead.

You could try reading aloud from a book for 20 minutes per day to strengthen the speech areas of your brain. That’s what I did and it worked. It might take a month of daily practice to see a significant difference.

For me it’s really hard to talk when you are full of anxiety

I don’t stutter, but I relate to words being sucked out of my brain.

I also will be thinking one thing and something else comes out.

I stutter and have trouble getting my words out too.

Me too. Slurring, stuttering, changing the word order, not following cues, missing a word or two, not explaining well at all my thoughts. All that and then some more when I’m super anxious.

It’s the most frustrating symptom for me now. The others have gone awya with meds but it’s nottouching my speech issues
