Does anyone else get free food?

Just curious. I’ve been having to get free food from the food bank/pantry. It’s a blessing. I’m a little embarrassed that I’m having to do this though.

You shouldn’t feel embarrassed. Many people rely on food pantries to help make ends meet.

Thanks @Moonbeam My landlord just upped my rent, so it’s taking some time to adjust. I just qualified for and got the $30 ACP US government internet/phone credit. ACP = Affordable Connectivity Program.

My friend and her boyfriend are having their rent go up $400 a month. I guess I was lucky mine only went up $50.

Moonbeam is right. It’s nothing to be embarrassed about. If I bought my own house and was living on my own, I would likely have to do the same. The only reason I’m not in the same situation is that I live with parents and my rent and other expenses are low.

I’m lucky to have my parents.

Thanks @Bowens I used to live with my mom too before she had to go to the nursing home in 2010. My sister sold her house to fund the nursing home.

I have EBT food stamps, I get about $350 monthly for food, works on everything that isn’t heated up already
Maybe you can try that route?

I guess I could try again. I didn’t get any the last time maybe a year ago.

I’ve been to food pantries in the past. It’s nothing to be ashamed about. If I was smart id do it more often.

I get like 12 dollars a month. It’s funny.

Edit: Hmm…I just checked my account and they haven’t credited anything for awhile. Maybe I’m getting none. Last time I used it was May. IDK.

You too. Don’t be embarrassed. These are hard times.

I been stressing out over electricity bills, something had to give.
I stopped paying 3 months ago. Can’t pay next month either.
Applied for energy assistance - application processing.
Whatever is left I will arrange a payment plan.

I guess there’s too much of my grandfather’s Rugged Individualism in me. I feel like a failure because I’m taking handouts. I guess I should give myself a break. Rugged Individualism was coined by the US President in office when the Great Depression hit in late 1929.
