Does anyone deal with negative symptoms?

My negative symptoms are making me miserable, does anyone know how to improve them, meds or something else?

There is really no meds for negative symptoms. :crab::crab::crab:

May I ask if yours are in control just naturally?

I suffer from a great deal of negative symptoms, especially hygiene and leaving the bed. What really helped me is a habit tracker and self accountability, a good support system and some coffee. With all that I seem to decrease the nagging feeling of staying in bed and sleeping all day. Its all you can really do. Other things that help me is vitamins especially b complex, I’m not perfect and there are some days with even all that I have I still lay in bed, the important thing is to be kind with yourself.

May I ask how long you’ve been diagnosed with schizophrenia? This is all new to me, so I’m learning as I go

I drink monster low carb drinks every day and smoke cigs.

I have negative symptoms. I haven’t found much to deal with them yet. I think exercising helps some.

I have simple schizophrenia , which means I have negative symptoms only… I take amisulpride, sarcosine and some coffee lol

It’s hard but with some regular exercise I’m more motivated and sleep less. Same meds. Same negs but added exercise. Not impossible but starting is so hard. People don’t realize just how hard it is to move off the coach sometimes when your getting negs. Still.

Started with a simple fitness tracker and nowadays I do 20,000 steps a day and other exercise…and sleep from 10 hours a day to 8.

Check your thyroid levels and make it optimal. A TSH value under 1.0 significantly help you to remain energized throughout the day. Same with Vitamin D and B12.

Making a routine for daily activities is must. For example sleep and wake at same time every day. Poop before a certain time daily. Brush after dinner etc. Bath at least once every 2 days. Workout with heavy weights at least once a week. Walk regularly like at least 1 hr total per week. These kind of strict routines make as if you in some strict prison. No excuse.

Concerning supplements which might be helpful for negative and cognitive symptoms include curcumin, NAC, vitamin B1 (thiamine) etc.

They used to be worse but Wellbutrin, supplements and daily walking have helped. Try to exercise.

I always handled the negatives by minimizing my daily maintenance of a clean living space and my other routines. I have met guys who were worse than me about that, but not very many. My biggest area of contention with the army was being spic and span. I enjoy some things a lot, like a good documentary on tv, a good movie, or a good book. I’m basically happy the way I am. There have been times in the past when if I had done just a little more work it would have spared me a lot of pain further down the road, but now I don’t have too many of those responsibilities.

I have negative symptoms like you. I heard taking a B complex vitamin will help but not sure, some say drinking coffee will help. I also heard from this forum that taking amitriptyline will help. Not sure though.

I have negative symptoms too and just learned that fact. Really hard to push through them, especially with personal hygiene and getting myself to keep exercising and talking. I have sza so it tends to come on episodically along with the positive symptoms.

Its definitely an emotional state for me. (It seems like anyways). You have to accept some days you won’t do anything and thats okay. But also trying to do stuff you find enjoyable when you can. Even if they are small tasks like doing drawing for 20 minutes, or going walking for 15 minutes. I find the more I do the better I feel, but its hard to get the ball rolling.

You’ll find lots of threads with people complaining about them.
