Yes, one of my previous diagnosis was depression with psychotic features

I was depressed before I started medication, then depressed again when my doctor reduced my medication. They were both for different reasons. They didn’t seem to be directly part of the sz, but were due to my circumstances at the time. I got over it both times though!

I was originally diagnosed with psychotic depression. Now I’m diagnosed with sz but also deal with depression. I don’t know if minor depression is a thing. But I don’t feel like my depression is all that bad. Not compared to what I’ve experienced previously anyways.

Yeah, constant depression, and anxiety, life is so fun ha

Yes. I’d even say it’s more of a problem than the positives…feeds the negatives which always makes it hard. It’s extremely common with sz. You’d find most people on antidepressants as well…that wouldn’t be a stretch.

I suffer from depression. I’m on Wellbutrin. Not every schizophrenic suffers from clinical depression but it is common to have both.

I think there’s mild, moderate and severe forms of depression as a classification. There’s also the cyclic or season depression and the post partum depression/blue. Thats the little I can remember from the classification in school

I was first diagnosed with depression but then my doctor realized it was depression and schizophrenia ( schizoaffective). To answer your question no schizophrenia doesn’t always come with depression buth alot of people with schizophrenia may be prone to depression, some may have bipolar disorder along with schizophrenia, while some may have only schizophrenia.well that’s the little that I know

I’ve had serious bouts of Depression for years, that has required hospitalisation because i stop eating and drinking. I was originally diagnosed with Psychotic Depression, but changed to Schizophrenia because my psychosis occurred without depressive symptoms. I’m currently diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia, and severe depression with psychotic features.

My depression was strong before I got schizophrenia. Surprisingly, it’s gone down since getting schizophrenic symptoms. I am more easily able to cheer myself up, perhaps because all the pressure’s off now that I’m not expected to succeed so much. Or maybe I’m just old enough not to care anymore. Who knows. I’m just glad it’s mostly gone because having both sounds really tough.
