Doctor response

Last time I saw my family Dr I told him about my negative and cognitive symptoms, he basically said they don’t exist. I told him I can’t get out of bed while before sz I was very active working, studying full time in university with high grades and very high functioning, he said that’s normal and he doesn’t see a problem in staying in bed all day. I got mad wanted to punch his face and yell. What a joke. Why don’t Drs acknowledge these symptoms? They think sz just make us lazy forever with no solution?

Family doctors are good to renew prescriptions. You should be talking to a psychiatrist. My family doctor appointments last 30 secs.

Even my psychiatrists said the same that its normal to be stuck in bed 24/7. One pdoc said its impossible to be like before sz.

The pdoc said just get out of bed and that its me who wants to stay in bed. I felt like he was calling me dumb and insulting me ignoring my sz symptoms.

Then, it’s your duty to prove them wrong.

My PDoc used to say that The reason I was gaining weight on the clozapine was because I was eating too much when I was eating a normal amount and clearly my metabolism had been affected deeply. He even said to me and I quote " people gain weight every year as they age"

His tune changed dramatically after I quit the clozapine and lost 100 lbs

My psychiatrist told me that the meds made it possible for me to get out of bed and do things, but that it would have to be me that did it. I didn’t really get much of a choice because I kept having AA members showing up and saying, “c’mon, let’s go out.” It helped get me over that hump.

My point is that doctors can be patronizing.

Sometimes, a lack of accustomization makes things way more difficult.

I’m just saying that part of it is not beeing used to do it.

On Abilify I had more energy and did more stuff finished my degree and went to the gym 6x a week, was always hanging out with my friends. Even had many short term jobs. I told the Dr on Abilify I was more functional he said all the meds are the same.

No way. Zyprexa made me constipated like a mf and clozapine was insane
Risperdal makes me feel like crap. They are all different. Abilify gives me this testicular crap. Although I’m pretty good today.

There’s a few psych docs I didn’t like. But nurse practitioner is ok. I get my immune shots there. I hope you have someone to take you seriously you know your mind they don’t.

I keep telling you @Aziz
You need to be seen by a qualified psychiatrist

Family doctors are not going to help your cause

I really disagree with your house doctor in that negative symptoms are normal. I find none of my negative symptoms normal but we must live with them whether we like or not. No normis understand how damaging that it is to us schizophrenics selfestimes to live unproductive lives.

I couldn’t agree more.

The psychiatrists said they can’t help me, they ignore my negative and cognitive symptoms, they say its normal to have them and to stay in bed 24/7.
