Doctor changed a lot of things I'm scared

So I was on Zoloft, risperdal, lithium, trileptal Doxepin, and praozasin. (scizoeffective disorder bipolar type) now I was on those medicines for a while now but they were ineffective at stopping my delusions, mania, depression, insomnia, anxiety voices etc. And alot more recently my symptoms were getting worse hearing more voices, say worse things about me and and to kill self etc. So I started and intensive outpatient program and I met with the doctor today I am supposed to basically taper off of everything except lithium, praozasin, and visteral, and he added Seroquel has anyone had any success with Seroquel? Does it help with psychotic epsisodes?

Seroquel helped me, but I gained 90 pounds in one year on it. I’m losing weight now that I’m off it. It helps with sleep too if you have trouble sleeping.

I can’t believe you were on Zoloft with bipolar

What mg of serequel are you taking

So is the weight gain water weight or does it cause you to gain weight from eating more? Yeah the DR said that about Zoloft too I have been having lots of anxiety and mania as well recently. Does the Seroquel help with delusions and hallucinations? 200mg for two days then 400 mgs until I see him next week.

Seroquel should help with the delusions and hallucinations.

I hope so I was on risperdal, zyprexa, geodon latuda and none helped significantly with the symptoms.

Yes, seroquel has been the best med for me, even though I’m only on 500mg split up 3 times a day. I still have symptoms sometimes, but it’s nowhere near as bad as it was. During my first weigh in (last month) I gained 14 pounds, but during the second one, my weight remained stable. For some reason, seroquel doesn’t make me tired (even in the hospital when I was taking haldol with it, except on the first day, during which I was exhausted). My voices often fueled my delusions, and since the seroquel greatly lessened them, it has by extension lessened my delusions too. Anyway, good luck with the seroquel. I hope it turns out to be a good med for you.

I hope so too, I guess I will find out.

Usually they only change one thing at a time, so they know what’s causing symptoms or side effects. I hope the seroquel works well for you, and that you don’t go through major withdrawals while tapering the other meds.

That is exactly what I am worried about I think its too much of a change.

It’s probably going to put me in the hospital again. Honestly

Tell them that? . Ask them to slow down the change… Including the tapering process so that ur body does not get a shock.

My girlfriend is worried too she thinks it’s to much to take away 4 medication’s

Seroquel is a good medicine for me. It helps with sleep and it evens out my mood, calms me down so I’m less irritable.

I took it last night I didn’t sleep any better, the voices and racing thoughts kept me awake, when I did sleep I woke with night terrors and sleep paralysis

Serequel makes me hungry. If I take 100mg at night it’s not uncommon to need a small meal to be able to fall asleep. It probably also messes with your metabolism to make you gain weight. Overall I think it’s a good drug, makes me sleep great

How did the seroquel work out for you?

Typically, we like to leave inactive threads alone and just start a new thread instead. This is different than how some forums are run, but we do it this way because it frequently upsets users to have old topics revived when they are no longer relevant. It can also be frustrating to the person who revived the thread when they don’t get a reply, because the original poster is no longer active or no longer finds the topic relevant. Feel free to start a new thread on this topic.
