Do you think animals can tell if a person is bad?

Most of the time when I am with animals they tend to be relaxed around me. I try to be a good person most of the time. Do you think animals can sense that a person is bad?

I think animals know.

That doesn’t mean if an animal isn’t in love with you right off the bat you’re a bad person.

But I trust my dog’s intuition.

They’ve been right before.

Animals have different personalities. Some are aggressive and territorial towards anyone that they don’t know. Some are afraid of all strangers. Others are friendly towards almost everyone. I think these reactions can occur regardless of how good of a person you are.

That being said, I think they can sense when someone is aggressive in many cases. Maybe they can pick up on hostility. Maybe they can pick up on if someone means them harm.

I don’t think they are easily capable of judging someone’s character at first contact, though.

This is something maybe they might learn after having long term exposure to them, though? I don’t know. This gets a bit into how intelligent animals really are.

Sisters kitten is very relaxed around me he is chillin on my bed with me as I speak. The other one is skidish around me at times but will occasionally go out near me when my my sister is there. He was abused however by a previous owner.

If Charles Manson came over and fed my dog a biscuit once a day she would probably grow to like him, regardless of his character. lol.

I agree @Bowens that animals have different personalities. My dog Misty is very anxious.

My cat is overall a bit shy and skittish but she is more trusting and comfortable with me than my father.

Maybe it’s because I feed her and am around her more.

My father is not a big fan of cats unfortunately

A lot of how an animal reacts to you is dependent upon how you treat them. For example,
my dog was real friendly towards my ex brother in laws youngest boy at first. Once she learned that he was likely to chase him around and pull her tail and try to sit on her and such, she now avoids him like the plague. She is a bit afraid of him.

My dad and I both pay attention to my dog, pet her, take her for walks, feed her…etc and I let her sleep on my bed. My mom is not mean to her, but pays less attention to her. Based on these behaviors, my dog prefers my dad and me to my mom. When we leave the house and leave her with my mom, she usually whines and cries.

Does this make my mom a worse/bad person? No, but our dog prefers us.

I believe that animals have a sense for micro-expressions that makes them more in tune with humanity than some people are. I don’t think they know about Good and Evil, but they can read your intentions better than some people.

Doubt it. Dogs liked me before I quit drinking and nobody should have liked me when I was drinking. Even I didn’t.

Sometimes, I think so. Probably due to picking up on expressions and scents.

But my dog has only met 1 person he didn’t like. So, he isn’t the best judge. Not everyone is his friend, though he thinks so.

Animals let you know how they feel. That’s honesty we can value.

IDK, dogs will like anyone. Look at all the jerks who own dogs that love them.

Perhaps some of them? Some dogs like everyone. Some dogs don’t like anyone. Others are selective. If I had a dog that liked everyone but that one person, I’d be inclined to trust that a bit more. But… Dogs may interpret something that one person they dislike did differently than we. People don’t realize it, but there are many times when “unprovoked” aggression is actually provoked in the dog’s mind. So who knows?

And cats are finicky as heck.

Animals have a keen sense of smell and can detect fear which is what defeitful or bad people have
