I have been in NYC just three times, when I studied in the Upper Michigan I went to NYC from the JFK airport in the middle of night and felt that it was a cold city, this was in 1990, frankly I did not like it then, then I was there in 1999 and inn 2000, I felt that there were too many people and I did not like it then either.
I dont live too far from New York, I used to go there pretty often as a kid and teen/young adult.
I dont go there any more, because it would be too much for my senses.
NYC is the center of almost everything, a very busy city, full of life.
My brother and cousins still like going there for entertainment and eating out - its a city full of 5 star restaurants etc…
I prefer the quiet calm life, going to New York would trigger my paranoia for sure.
Never been but I’d love to once I felt comfortable around crowds [hear it’s constantly busy]
I used to love NYC. Wanted to live there and work there before I got sick. I’ve been there a couple of times.
I wasn’t crazy about NYC. People weren’t friendly. I’ve really liked Chicago, Detroit, Minneapolis, Montreal, Paris, Dublin, Kyoto and Tokyo, but not NYC.
I like San Francisco. I’ve been there several times. There’s just something about it. Unique culture and atmosphere. I don’t like the crime and homelessness. I got stuck all night in downtown sf with a group of people and it was scary. Literally a day and night difference at night. Hundreds of scary homeless people and thugs. So many sirens. Now, I think I would prefer to live in SF than NYC. Sf is like 20 minutes from my school on the BART. Just stay away from some areas like Oakland, though it’s being gentrified.
If I ever recover, I would like to work at a boutique investment firm. That or be a programmer or mathematician. I would want to live in SF or Berkeley. Maybe Palo Alto but never been there.
I hope you do. 1515
I have been in San Francisco just once, I drove my auto from Miami to SF, I was there just one day and then I went to San Jose, it is actually nice to drive across America, my favorite US city is Miami and Miami Beach where I used to live in my auto over two years. I visited often Key West, but then I decided to move to Europe.
I used to go to NYC many times as a kid (I’m nearby). Now I don’t go there for a reason.
I have an Aunt and some cousins who live on the San Leandro / Oakland border. They were saying the E14th Getto is now called the International dist… and there is a Pottery Barn… an Apple store an upscale market… and other upscale shops in an area that used to be avoided. Million dollar+ homes in Oakland now
I’ve never been to New York… It sound busy, and over the top with the hustle and bustle.
I heard they’re bussing people to SF. A lot of hipsters and programmers now.
That’s happening up here too… it’s sad to see.
Palo Alto is nice. Lots of quiet, clean, tree-lined streets with lots of squirrels running around. Downtown is busy but not too busy. I lived there for a few years in the eighties, I got to know my way around there pretty well.
Am from NYC moved to Nebraska when I was 14 ain’t been back in several years
Before I went nuts I lived in NYC for a few years and worked as an investment banker. The first year or two was fun but after that it just became like a grinding machine, a rat race where you couldn’t escape and find peace. Central park even was overcrowded so that wasn’t much of an escape.
Once the glamour wears off the place sucks. Lots of jerks too if you have to work there. The only thing I can say I miss about it is the food, being able to get whatever you want within a few blocks walking distance.
I love nyc but it scares me somewhat.
Ive lived in nyc all my life. It has its positives and negatives. I like the fact that I never had to get my license becauses buses and subways can get u anywhere but I agree with it being too crowded-for some reason being on the subway really irritates me sometimes
I think it can be fun to visit. Would never want to live there. Hated it the last time I went, went with family which was stressful and it was SO crowded, the weather was cold grey and ugly. My memories of past trips there are all good though.
