What do you think about New York City

I have been there three times. First I was in Jan 1990 when I traveled to study in Michigan, then I was in Aug 1999 and then in Oct 2000 when I lived in my auto in NYC. I think I did not like NYC much. What do you think?

Never been there but I don’t think I’d want to live there personally. Too densely populated for me, I think. Might be ok to visit.

Never been in there, but I have a song.

I wouldnt want to go there because if aliens come or some global catastrphie happens or a super villain devises some plot, it will happen in new york or some other major american city. Thats if what ive learnt from movies is true at least…

I think they are too many crazies. I couldn’t get any sleep cause of the constant noise i imagine. I never been to America.

It’s really expensive and way too urban. I started having a panic attack there last year because there was nothing but concrete for like 5 blocks on all sides of me and i got claustrophobic. Oh, and they don’t clean up their trash so there is ■■■■ strewn about everywhere on the street. Honestly i’ve been to a lot of places in my life and the only dirtier city i’ve ever seen is Rome. Long Island is beautiful though and if you ever get the chance to go to Montauk you should definitely go

Lived there for three and a half years. 18-21 years old. 2012-2015

I loved it at the time, don’t know what else to say. Couldn’t handle living there now though.

It seems that it is very expensive to live in most big cities. I am happy to live in my little town in eastern Finland.

I live very close to New York City
I used to head over there pretty often as a young adult.

I haven’t been there in decades.

Too busy and fast paced for me.

I went to NY Time Square and Woodbury outlets in 2013 mainly for shopping. Everything is less expensive in the US vs Canada even NY especially clothing and electronics. The CAD to US dollar was amazing for Canadians back then: 1 US$=1.0302 CAD. Even the motel was pretty cheap, 20$ a night with breakfast.

@Aziz 20$ is very low. Was this near the downtown of NYC? When I lived one week in my auto I slept near the Battery Park. It was ok. But I was happy to leave NYC and drive back to Miami. Even in Miami the motel prices were higher than 20$.

I think it was 20-40min away from downtown, definitively not in downtown as that must be much more expensive. But gas, clothing and electronics were cheaper than Canada even in downtown and not only in outlets but outlets were cheaper than downtownn. We shopped at both. I think I paid 18$US for new Polo Ralph Laurin shoes. The same shoes in Canada cost 80-100$CA.

Also in the US we don’t have to pay 15% taxes like in Canada Quebec where I live.

I was in Quebec once, in 1994. It was a good trip.

I’ve never been, but my sister lived there for about five years.

She had a small place that cost a fortune and had to start sleeping with earplugs just to drown out street noise.

However, living there greatly advanced her career, so there’s that.

I love NYC. If I could I would live there. I like how busy it can be and also the pizza is amazing.
