Most of my cats only let me hug them for a few seconds except for Ruby. I can hug Ruby for a good five minutes.

My cats don’t let me hug them. Primarily because they dont exist.

We have a cat colony where I live. I sometimes bring them a little treat from the store, but they don’t regard me as their own. This young woman does most of their feeding.

I hug one of my cats. He loves to get hugs and he is a large squishy cat so it is like hugging a large fluffy marshmellow. He also has large yellow eyes and always looks like he wants a hug. Or maybe he just wants food. 
My other cat and my dog are both very affectionate and love cuddling but they are both quite small so there’s not really enough of them to hug.

I’m sensitive enough in that I always cuddle with Jimmy, but I’m also macho in the sense that I’ll punch someone who tries to diss him.

Our recent tortie would not let us hug her, that would turn her into a tornado of claws. My childhood cat however loved to be cradled and snuggled. The one thing she did not like was belly rubs, but as long as you didn’t rub her belly you were golden.

I don’t have cats, but i have a dog who likes minimal human contact. She’ll tolerate neck and butt rubs but when i go to hug her she puts her ears and head down and rolls her eyes like a Dickinson waif…she looks like I’m torturing her with a hug. But when i feel bad she’ll sidle up to me and lick my feet and hands. We all have our own ways of showing affection, i guess…

I used to hug my cat all the time. she loved to sleep on my lap and come close to me and just enjoy me petting her and she loved to be caressed. she’s gone, died 1,5 years ago and I miss her so much. I talk about her every day and remember her every day. I am afraid I can never have a new cat anymore. I just have so much fear… if my new cat would be sick like she was, it would kill me. losing a loved pet was so hard for me I don’t know could I do it another time. the pain was just too much.
but if you have cats, hug them every day. cats are so precious and wonderful creatures. maybe I will have a new cat some time. now it just seems impossible.

My cat doesn’t like getting picked up or God forbid hugged!
She’ll sometimes rub up against me when I’m on the couch or she’ll let me pet the top of her head.

My brother’s cat doesn’t like to be touched or picked up.
She literally avoids it.
But if you do pick her up, she doesn’t mind getting petted.
