Do you have to wean off the injections?

How does it work? I am talking to my pdoc about this in a week… don’t worry I won’t quit meds entirely just change them to pills likely

Just follow doctor’s directions and you’ll be fine.

What are the side effects you are getting? If you have many that are very troublesome then yes by all means talk to your pdoc…

Abilify was a good med for me with few side effects … my worst nightmare was putting on even more weight and abilify is one of the few weight neutral ones so I stayed and compromised because the other symptoms like increased anxiety were minor compared to psychosis…

Just be sure this is definitely not the right med for you because they might not allow you to try it again …

why wouldnt they allow me to try it again? im not getting any side effects is just that it literally didnt get rid of my paranoia at all

Im going to stop giving advise because I don’t feel I’m the best person for this. …

I think your problem with the injection is you can’t choose to skip meds one day. I personally think you prefer being able to not take the pills.

Thinking, oh I feel fine, I don’t need it. Then not taking.

We all have done it.

I agree with @anon4362788. Because you’re usually in denial that you have psychosis, you’ll want to skip meds. Switch meds if you want, but I think you should stick with injections

You went from flat out denying delusions or paranoia to recognizing it as such. In terms of psychosis recovery thats a big step forward, and its quite reasonable to think your medication has helped you to make this step. In a month or two you might have made a next step with not being paranoid anymore.

well its unfair that i have to be on the injection and others can be on pills

i wont quit them any time soon

It’s not unfair. Millions are on injections.

I think you have associated injections with CTOs. Which they do use, but injections are really just for convenience.

You also often have a lower side effect profile because the daily dose if often lower than pills.

It’s going to ensure you actually take your meds, because you struggle with denial.

im not in denial anymore

That’s because of the Abilify doing it’s job

As Dear zombie stated - i dont know why you wanna come off the jab unless you wanna skip em. It really is far easier and convenient to have the needle once a month, assured in the knowledge your not gonna have an episode.

If i could have my seraqoul pills in injection form - i would have that as well as my invega jab. I hate remembering to take pills.

I see it as a benefit.

It’s unfair that I was born with a ruined heart that won’t let me run while others have healthy hearts and can run as much as they want.

Welcome to life.

Well I want to quit them in a year or so

Did you have a psychotic episode to be on meds? Any delusions or hallucinations?
