My sister works for the department of children’s services.
I have one sister who’s an animal rights lawyer. She earns well.
great occupation congratulations
My sister makes bank
On her way to the c suite
Accountant and teacher. Both live extravagant compared
My sister is a graphic designer.
Like a good one….
She makes a decent amount of money. How much, I’m not sure, but they’re definitely well off.
You know what’s funny about 2 times a year I run out of SSI money early and ask for 20$ till I get paid and they are so stuck up they won’t let me borrow it. It’s sad.
To whose standards?
My brothers are an engineer and a partner in a medical company. They are athletic. They have model-like wives. One lives in a gated community style house. Their kids wore designer clothes from babyhood. They have a busy social life with upper class friends.
I had a similar life.
But when my handsome accomplished partner raped me and threatened my newborn, family didn’t even notice I was unwell. They defended him.
When I was suicidally depressed about our family situation, my brother called to scream I was worthless. For an hour. He never visited in the ward. Too dirty. My mentally ill friend who is a maid? She supported and visited me.
When I have no food? They don’t even notice. Or care. My neighbours in the very poor area I live at? They know without words and put money in my purse or give me a bread.
What is success?
To me success means to be accomplished in the eyes of society.
What would the media make of you?
My family has loving and caring sides too. I don’t want to be only negative. But they don’t have much room for people less well off.
My family is opposite. They like me better now that I’m not in a successful career anymore.
Really?
That is cool. Why?
I like myself better now I’m not in a career. But my family wants me to get back to “normal”. Psychosis is obviously difficult on them…there’s two sides. But still.
I was far away geographically. Hard. Ambitious. Making Rich people Richer.
Now I am close. Soft and caring about the planet.
Nice.
I think this is one of the effects mental illness can have. It is humbling. Breaks your shell. I’d rather had that happen in a slightly less painful way. But I think there’s a possibility of personal growth in sz.
In my case it was the only way to get me out of that life.
I had to be dragged out kicking and screaming
Me as well. I wasn’t a quick learner. :-/
A former friend said: God first throws pebbles to wake you up. Then rocks. Then big rocks. Then he collapses the house on top of you. Just to change you to the positive.
Fill in Life if you’re not religious, I don’t mean to evangelise. But you get the idea.
My sister worked as basically the housekeeping help at a gym for many years. She worked as counter help at a Dairy Queen for years. She also worked as a nurses aide at a nursing home for many years. She’s now retired and terminally ill.
My brother has a bachelor’s degree in English and has been working as a helicopter flight paramedic all his life. His job requires a lot of on the road travel and he doesn’t make much money. Part of his job is training the RNs he works with but, he makes less money than they do, even though they have mostly the same responsibilities.
My deceased brother was a trained chef who ended up working in fast food restaurants all his life.
Not exactly a picture of glowing success here.
My younger sister has an incredible career and makes a lot of money.
She’s been working in film for 15 years.
Moved to LA with no experience, no friends and into a tiny apartment with three other girls she didn’t know.
Ate nothing but bean soup for a couple years, never got paid for working these little independent films,
Just trying to get credits.
She hustled her way to the top of her department.
There’s still room to grow as she’s only 35,
But she does damn well.
Her current show is the most viewed (new/current) comedy on HBO and she’s done a ton of feature films, other super hot shows and has met all sorts of celebrities.
She won’t gossip with me about them.
A few exceptions there,
But not as many as I would like.
I want to hear the dirt on everyone.
Probably the fact that she’s not a gossipy has faired well for her in that career.
Additionally being super talented.
Also really bossy.
All that helps.
I’m soooo proud of her.
She’s a legend and everyone I know and in our family is visibly jealous of her career.
I love it.
I love that she pursued her passion and made bank doing it.
I am the most successful out of all my siblings, from a financial viewpoint. Also from a “happy with my own life” viewpoint.
