Internet is a challenge for me. I have a addiction which may or may not be related to my mental problems, but I feel it does, so it helps me to limit my acsess to the internet, that’s why I now have a dumbphone.
Do you have a smartphone or dumbphone?[poll type=regular results=always chartType=bar]
It’s basically a phone with practically no acsess to the internet. You might be able to use internet on it to a certain degree, but the screen is so small that it’s not practical.
No, I like socialising, but I grew up with computers from I was 6 years old and have been used to spending a lot of time on them playing games and then later the internet came. Now my interest for games have diminished, but I somehow feel that on the computer is where all the action is. I have a hard time to choose not to spend time on the computer.
I try to socialize some but my social skills are really bad. I’m probably addicted to this forum. I’m don’t own a computer or have an internet connection. I get TV with an antenna.
I am just trying to figure out why you’re addicted to technology. For me before sz I didnt abuse technology and was socializing a lot outside. But then sz happened and I am bed bound so stuck with technology. I guess I am not addicted and its the sz. Without my pc and cellphone I would be sleeping all day or in bed watching the ceiling so technology helps me a lot.
Remember, social media sites have been designed and optimized to be addictive, it’s not totally your fault.
I don’t use my smartphone for internet stuff all that often, the screen is too small and I hate typing sh*t on it. Even a laptop is too small for me. I prefer a PC with a big monitor and a normal sized keyboard.
Yeah, I guess internet in itself is not a bad idea. There are lots of benefits.
The problem is that some sites, especially social media giants are making their sites as addictive as possible because it means us clicking and watching more adds, and they make more money on the basis of that. I wish the internet had some kind of quality control. In society we have regulation, but on the internet it seems everything goes.
