Just was curious to see if you guys work/make a good living. I feel like I’m having a nervous breakdown in my life right now, because I dont know how to work my way up in the world financially.
I dont know what direction to take and I also wonder if I can do alot of the stuff normal people can. I’ve had my iq tested by a psychologist and its above 100 and average.
I just am feeling really screwed up mentally right now with all the pressure. My parents are telling me I need to figure it out cuz I cant live with them forever. Nor do I want to. I’m just stressing.
So anyways are you guys doing ok financially? Aka, paying your Bill’s, living on your own etc.
I moved back home after i was diagnosed. I am on disability atm but i plan on moving back to tech support. Back when i lived alone i was making 50k salary, untaxed, and i was doing ok.
Now, im thinking of ways to make money with all the free time i have. If you want to move out, i think the government has something called section 8 housing and low income housing. Do you have a case worker, they could probably help you? Do you have any skills that can make money solo from home? Like writing, programming, etc
I dont really have any skills and I dont want to live in section 8 housing. I’m thinking of going to trade school for plumbing though. I just need to be able to afford my own place and provide for my family one day. Right now I work at CVS as a cashier.
I went to vocational school for dental assisting. I new work full time and am making a decent living. Enough to support myself living with a roommate. It wouldn’t be nearly enough to support a family though.
@Hanna_Foxx thanks for the feedback that gives me hope. I just need to hurry up and figure something out because I’m 25 and about to be off my parents insurance.
It was difficult but I made it through. The program was three days a week from 6pm to 9pm. I also worked part time while going to the vocational school. I think the hardest part was the Clinical’s and the board exam at the end.
@Geewiz I studied and did homework/online work around 3-4 hours a day all through the program. It was a short program though. Only four months! Well worth it
@Hanna_Foxx I think I just need to find something i enjoy and that will change my mindset towards things. Because right now I’m in classes I have no interest in so I dont want to do the work.
Ive been independant about 15 years now. Before i was living in supported housing, where money was so tight - i had £9 week left for food.
Ive lived in my fair share of shite holes. Its only the past 6 years ive settled down. I make a decent wage off my benefits now - and live quiet comfortably.
I can afford decent food now - and indulge in my computer hobby.
My finances go up and down. I’ve had some periods where I had extra money and I could relax a little knowing I could pay all my bills without worrying about it and still have money for eating out or going places or buying some luxuries.
But I’ve also had long periods where I had thousands of dollars of credit card debt. I always managed to pay them off with a few lucky breaks. I work part-time as a janitor, I’ve been there 7 years. Just last year I payed off a several thousands of dollars of money I owed on a couple of credit cards. Now, starting about 7 or 8 months ago I managed to get ahead. I have a little nest egg of money and my income tax return will give me a little more.
I can take that money and do something cool like a concert or a trip or buy myself something special. As for now, I just use the money to go to restaurants or buy clothes or occsionally stuff off of Amazon. I’m 58 and when it comes to money I’ve had a lot of ups and downs. But yeah, I have a roof over my head, plenty of food, gas for the car and I can pay my bills off each month without worrying about it.
I work as a resolution specialist in the call center at Amazon, I make the best money i’ve ever made in my life, could be more had my (private intelligence business not been wrecked by a relapse. But I bought a flat with my girlfirend and I am the one paying the mortgage.
I’m currently on disability, and my monthly check is $1702.30 after they take out health insurance. I’m currently living in Section 8 housing. I used to live with my mother, but she took out an Order of Protection against me because I was unmedicated and abusive towards her. The judge found that I committed domestic violence towards her. This was in 2008. In 2010 Mother went in the nursing home, and my sister sold her house. Mother died February 28, 2018.
I’m currently in school for software design. I plan on getting a masters though, but after I’m done I should be able to work remotely to keep my stress down and make close to 6 figures starting out
I got sick late in life and many times I thought I would have to give up and move back in with my parents but I never did. I have maintained my own place all through out my illness by working when I had to but when I was on SSDI I was financially secure without working but went back to work anyway. I am a glutton for punishment.
I had a family. They depended upon me. Couldn’t let them down.
Hi,
I live with about 1000 € a month.
The social support here is ok, but is going to change.
Psychiatric hospitals are getting worse because of government policy.
And the social support is getting worse too.
